"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

My forecast includes "localized areas of street flooding." That just ain't right.

Well, it is probably better than "time to start building an ark"?

I just went out and ran errands before grabbing lunch and heading back to the office. When I left, it was just occasional drops, but the sky was black. Then the clouds opened up. Wow - that's a lot of rain. I think "localized aread of street flooding" may in fact mean "time to start building an ark".

Right. What's an ark?

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

A friend of mine was mocking me last week because she was going to be on vacation until the 12th, enjoying herself with her family while I'm stuck here at work. She's in Alabama, where Tropical Storm (depression, whatever) Cindy is currently parked, and the next storm could very well land near there sometime this weekend. On the 12th, I'll have to ask her if she's dried out yet.

I love retributional mockage.

I also loved the second dress, but none of me is a medium, except maybe my intellect.

Timelies. I woke up from a dream where Buffy was fighting Scientologists in Los Angeles Santos.

I spent last week at a genetics convention in LA. There was a Scientology convention at the same hotel (Hollywood Renaissance). This was very strange, because it meant that the Scientologists were constantly handing their propaganda to, um, actual Scientists. At one point the twp groups were having receptions on the outdoor courtyards and some wag changed the velvet ropes to funnel both groups into the same space. Not a good situation. Add the bizarre mixture of Disneyland and sleaze that Hollywood has become, and you get a very strange experience.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Holy crap, that's just... craxy!

Ann, that's a ferret.

I'm a traveling depression! Ask me how.

Can I do that when you get here tomorrow night?

(ION, shame we don't have a Dennis around here to keep the joke running....)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That sounds awesome, Rick. Did you get a stress test??

What is even happening?

Monique, has a Dennis (or possibly a Denis). We barely have a Monique though, but she did post in Minearverse last week. We have a Denise, but we just barely have her, as well. I think though, when the names for the '05 storms were released, someone noted there were a few Buffistas in the mix. Let's see [link]

Arlene
Bret
Cindy
Dennis
Emily
Franklin
Gert
Harvey
Irene

Katrina

Nate
Ophelia

I can't even.

Ophelia is definitely a Buffista name, even if we don't currently have someone occupying it.
