I do own fairly light/gauzy skirts, and I wear a SLIP under them
What colour slip? I mean -- unders are unders -- unless the slip exactly matches the skirt in cut or the flesh in tone, isn't it visible somehow?

What kind of thing are you looking for, Maria? How about
Black pearls: [link]
Sterling with garnet and marcasite: [link]
I guess it depends what the beading on the front looks like.
I own a slip, but I usually wear it as a dress or nightgown.
I am not very modest at all.
I don't like slips. If I'm wearing a light, gauzy skirt, I don't want the added layer of a slip.
ChiKat is me.
I've been looking on Overstock for most of the afternoon. How come I didn't find those? Hmph.
I looove the marcasite and garnet one. That's close to what I was picturing in my head. The black pearls are a good idea too.
I own slips - haven't worn them in ages. but then most of my clothig is easy clothing. somewaht heavier fabrics with body - my unwritten/unspoken/not-so-well-followed rule is that 90% of my clothing must be easy and forgiving - the rest can matter.
I am much more disturbed by what is happeing on Justic League than I am about how people's underware looks under their clothing. as long as it is uner.
Well, today I am wearing a grey linen skirt that's pretty lightweight. I wore it without a slip at my grandmother's memorial service and noticed (whoops!) that when backlit, it was fairly transparent. So right now I'm wearing black underpants, a white slip, and the skirt, and feeling fairly confident that nobody is noticing what's under my skirt. Which is, to me, the point of appropriate undergarments (in a work context) - to be not noticed.
I guess I feel that if a skirt is so gauzy as to actually be see-through, it hardly matters what you wear under it.
How come I didn't find those?
Magic.
Maria, the black pearls I got at Overstock had some shading to them that made them closer to being multihued than I was expecting. I still like them, and think they would be nice with that dress though.
Speaking of Overstock, ita-- are these basically the same thing as your pillows? [link]
I am always perplexed by women who seem to have matched not just jacket, skirt, and hat, but jacket, skirt, hat, shoes, and purse, all in the same (non-black) color.
I can do this once. With hot pink. I bought the suit and shoes ant the same time, and wore the shoes to the store to get everything else. It makes me feel very put together. Though, honestly, I feel even more put together when I wear the shoes, jacket and hat from this ensemble with teh black and white checked pants that have pink ladybugs embroidered on them and a bit of rick-rack (is it rick-rack if it's straight?) at the hem.
Oh, wait. No purse. Changing purses is way more than I am willing to do for a look. I'm more likely to decide that I just won't carry a purse.
Gorgeous bridesmaid dress, Maria. Maybe something in jet beading for the necklace? I know I'd like it. (eta: except now that I've gone and looked for some it's really quite expensive. I must have always looked at fakes before)
I am not wearing a slip. I don't think I own a slip. Another layer in the summertime= crzxy.
I'm leaving that typo, it's expressive.
