"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

How sad is that I am actually glad the weekend is almost over?

Lame. I could use another year like this. Not!Working rocks.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I was very busy for much of the weekend. I need a rest - maybe this means bedtime?

Fine, go back to work, ya grinder. Leisure is wasted on you. Leave it to the truly indolent.

Our wings are not tired

I saw fireworks tonight. They were pretty.

That is all.

move out and draw fire

Is such a lovely description of jetlag

And not mine - it's William Gibson's. But it's perfect so I've adopted it.

I am SO GLAD this week is over. Highlights include 8 Americans hospitalized, most for scooter accidents, one with serious burns over 75% of his body. A couple Americans dying. One of whom died a week ago, alone in her house, and wasn't found for a couple days. It's been around 100 degrees here every day. A couple Americans arrested, not for anything serious, but they couldn't call home because guess what kids today can't do? They can't make long-distance phone calls. They had cellphones and calling cards only. One American who wandered off from her tour group and got lost. 5 lost passports. One of these who wanted the US Gov't to pay the extra charge it was going to cost her to reschedule her return flight, and got extremely verbally abusive when we declined (the airline was allowing her to go on stand-by status for no additional charge anyway). And the corker was a woman whose adult son stopped taking his psychotropic drugs and refused to return to the States with her. He's adult and hadn't broken any laws, but she tried to get him arrested anyway to make him come back with her...so she told the police he'd hijacked a plane with a gun. This disinclined the police to play nice, and also disinclined the airline to let him on board. Go figure.

Normal weeks involve maybe 2 lost passports.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

That does sound crazy, Raquel. I hope things calm down this week.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

And more (also, I made the discovery that I've been COMMed way more than I ought to be, because I am NOT that funny):

Pfft. Now I'm tempted to check out the COMM thread and see how often I COMM'd you.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm trying to imagine how a scooter accident results in burns over 75% of your body. Since they so rarely explode on impact....
