You're wrong about River. River's not on the ship. They didn't want her here, but she couldn't make herself leave. So she melted... Melted away. They didn't know she could do that, but she did.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

"woulddenshoo" drove her batshit crazy.

Drives me batshit, as well. Also see: "I wantchoo to wanme"

It must be Jamaican Month, because my replacement (at the job that it is my last day of today. Woot!) is from Kingston. Unfortunately, she's also amazingly soft-spoken, so I don't hear the wickedcool accent half the time.

I call myself shortwaisted, and I have a short rise. There's maybe an inch and a half between my hips and my waist.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Hi Hil! How was your trip?

It was great. Lots of interesting stuff in Israel, lots of really cool historical things, I was with a really great group, and lots of interesting discussions about Israel and America and Jewish identity and politics and lots of other stuff. I've got a whole bunch of stuff I wrote about the trip that I'm going to try to type up and get online sometime today.

What is even happening?

Is short-waisted high waisted, or low waisted? I'm so confused.

ION, Brooke Shields wrote an op-ed for the NYT on Tom Cruise's 'ridiculous rant'. She suspects he has never suffered from post-partum despression. What is she, some kind of Jedi? [link]

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

You are in the top 0.789% richest people in the world.

That's so crazy. I did that using my pre-grad school salary, which was way lower than my for-profit friends'.

I think high-waisted and low-waisted refers to pants, and short-waisted and long-waisted refers to people.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Huh...I was in the top 5.9%. I think I need a raise.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Balloons! Humungous hot air balloons!

Oh, god, this coming on top of the three or four preceding posts made me guffaw in a way that had heads poking over the surrounding cubicles. I had to make something up to explain.

See, I've always heard high and low used for people, so I'm still having trouble figuring out what short and long are. Does short equate to high?

I think I'm revising my opinion, and I think that short and long waisted refers to the distance from hip to sternum, relative to height. Then, if you're using high and low waisted to refer to people, that refers to where in that hip to sternum region the natural waist is.
