I haven't looked at the slide show yet, but this linked story just made me die with how much humans can frequently suck, and how amazing other mammals can frequently be.
The catered lunch my office has twice a week was Indian food today.

barely-cooked cabbage
I use that a lot in lieu of rice, noodles or whatever. It's easier.
I do couscous -- it has the upside of not requiring a pot, or cabbage parts.

But it involves measuring! But yeah, I used to use that too. The cabbage thing grew out of laziness. I'd have cooked a hunk of chicken or some stirfy on the stove and have this juice left in the frying pan, so I'd just toss a handful or two in there, let it soften, and ta-da.
I'm good at one pot/pan/dish inventions.
I am so pleased that I did not recognize the initials, and had to click through to figure out who got married!
I guess she's pregnant for reals.
Those were great animal photos. 10-13 especially.
The one of the woman who's adopted 200 cats reminds me of an old lady who lives near here. She feeds all the neighborhood cats, but rather than them coming to her place, she caters to them. She walks down the street, bag of cat food cans over one arm, magazines over the other. Every cat location she spreads out a magazine page like a placemat, and precisely puts some food down.
The cats obey her sense of etiquette - when they hear the jangling of the bag of cans, they trot to the sidewalk and sit primly, waiting to be served. When there's a "placemat" left from the day before, they sit at it.
