she doesn't like the sound flip flops make.

I was thinking like these: [link]
Except I got mine last minute at target for a few bucks. I would have preferred something a little less cheapy if I were regularly using them.
These (crappy picture) are what I have in brown. I'd love them in black -- the insole's nicely contoured, the bottom is contoured and rubber, fastens with velcro.
BUT and here's the picky part -- the straps are suede, and thin, and as such I feel no reluctance about wearing them with skirts. They're not chunky, but they're ergonomically comfortable for the long walking and the standing and the crap.
Without the dreaded flip and flop.
eta: No, I don't need to go into the water with them. I just want something that slips on and isn't a sand trap, and isn't going to die from a little water.
Running off to work now, so not ignoring suggestions -- these are great.
well sport sandal is not going to come in suede. Those are two unmixy things.
The second one I linked to is most like that, but designed for sports.
Oh, that will be perfect, JZ. I'd apologize for the strain ofn finances, but clearly those two items of apparel were destined for each other and you and I are just pawns in their fated saga.
Now, do I need the matching bag? I don't. Do I?
Also, I highly recommend Chacos for all your athletic sandal needs. Best arch support in a sandal I've ever experienced. Mine are almost worn through the soles I've worn them so much, but still comfortable. I bought them when I could get sich things on an employee discount, so they must be 5 years old.
Though now that I go looking for them they seem to have gone up in price. Yikes, that's a lot of money. [link]

Do walking sandals count as sport? Because these are listed as such. But suede isn't key. Just lack of hugeness, really.
I love my Chacos: they're very comfy, and they don't flop. Or flip.

-t, that link is wrong.
There's an interview in the new Newsweek with Johnny Depp re: Willy Wonka. Roald Dahl's widow is amusing, she doesn't quite get why women go for Johnny. "He's quite nice, but he's no Robert Mitchum."
Anyway, Johnny was talking about being thrilled to play Wonka. He even says he did a Snoopy dance.
