Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I'm a little boggled at the thought of "You know what would make a good weakness? YELLOW!" being considered a workable idea twice.

mmm hm.

And then there's that little boy who rides on his back. He's like the Michael Jackson of superheroes.

The original Green Lantern, with powers of a different origin, also has a weakness. His? Wood.

I think this is the premise for one of the arcs on QaF.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'm a little boggled at the thought of "You know what would make a good weakness? YELLOW!" being considered a workable idea twice.

The trick is though that they sort of explained the weakness in a way that let them get Hal Jordan back free and clear. Between that and finally having a decent explanation for what green lantern energy actually is, I'm willing to overlook the silliness of the weakness.

Considering the original Alan Scott weakness was wood, it's not as if they lack a 65 year tradition of WTF?-ness.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Total deja vu on reading this conversation.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Burrell, the babies are gorgeous! And when did Franny get so grown up?

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I never had much of a problem with it. I figured it was a function of the spectral characteristics of the ring's light. I thought the recent change to blame it all on Parallax was kind of dumb.

The original Green Lantern, with powers of a different origin, also has a weakness. His? Wood.

Yeah, but his ring was specifically based on magic, so it's sort of the same thing as the fact that a wooden stake will dust a vampire.

Except that they were specifically reinventing the character when Hal became GL. As far as DC knew at the time, Alan Scott was never going to be seen again.

How does that work? Is it like Superman is to kryptonite? Or that his power won't work on wood. Which still seems awfully limiting.

Franny and Isaac are gorgeous.

It doesn't work on wood. There's a camping trip story where this and yellow are factors.

Shoot, DX, Matt, either of you remember who all was involved and who wrote it?

IIRC, in the very first GL, it was specified that the ring only worked on things made out of metal, but not on non-metal. Later the non-metal thing got changed to wood.
