so are we all gonna wait til someone registers as "thread" to respond to Steph attack? is that the next step.

I have lost my ability to truly raise a fuss, it is so sad. I remember back in the day when I could get in a fight without even trying. Man, that was when this internet community stuff was the bomb.

A midwestern gesture would be an entirely g-rated version of an obscene gesture. An index finger instead of middle. A wave instead of fist. Smile, not snarl.

Signed,

daughter of midwestern farmgirl who falls down in shock when said farmgirl says SHIT

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Heh. I would do this out of sheer dorky ineptitude.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

now I want dinner. It is the talk of chowder.

but i do want to know what a midwestern gesture is -- the start of a hardy handshake?

Oh man, you people tempt the hell out of me! But Catalina != cruces food, damnit.

(my cousin sailed to the catalina islands with my dad's grad students when he lived with us and I've been jealous ever since. 15+ years.)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I remember back in the day when I could get in a fight without even trying.

Them's fightin' words...

Nah, I got nothing. I should go to bed so I can wake up and go to work AN HOUR EARLY. AGAIN. Summer hours are a frickin' JOKE.

(The kicker is that I don't even get a half-day on Friday. My department does alternate Fridays off instead, only because my supervisor and I are both taking summer vacations, and we can't both be gone at the same time, we're basically getting vacation days back for the Fridays we're going to be gone anyway instead of extra days off, which leaves me working three long weeks with no Friday off in a row. It. sucks.)

Sure. Cause sockpuppets are comedy gold.

the start of a hardy handshake?

They do not do hardy handshakes. That's TOUCHING.

(ok, I'm talking of my Minnesota farming relatives. I've hugged Uncle Charlie and Aunt Red maybe thrice and it is weird. The Mnnpls aunt & uncle? Countless.)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Is there a ferry to Catalina, or do you gotta fly / take your own boat?

Natalie Wood drowned near there, right?

OH sara, we really MUST go to LC, but not November. That is when the fandamily comes here and I host (although you'd be welcome to join if you are FREE, that'd be fun). Maybe early next spring before the windy starts.

Steph, it is hard for me to get your tone from a poorly described gesture.
