Damn it! You know what? I'm sick of this crap. I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey!

Nilly!

How are you feeling?

You know that part in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (I think) when Ron's wand backfires and he ends up throwing up slugs for a whole afternoon? Well, I no longer feel like that, so that's a big improvement. Still not 100% back (the friend I caught the virus from says it may take a while longer), but at least back in front of a computer.

How have you been doing? How was the work situation solved (I'm such a bad skipper)?

[Edited because apparently I lost my ability to spell and construct sentences along with the stomach-magic-slugs]

I'm glad you no longer feel like you are puking slugs. I try to go with the theory when recovering from such a thing to stay in bed as much as possible until you feel all the way better and then stay in bed one more day.

I am still jobless. Sighhhh. I'll find something soon. I'm in the middle of two projects so once I get them up I'll be able to job hunt more vigorously.

I'm glad you are feeling better, Nilly, if still not 100%.

Oh, that sounds like a good theory. Unfortunately, I can't experiment on it in this particular occasion, since the schedule is bad - the semester just ended, my students have exams, grading to finish, and actual work to squeeze in between.

I'm in the middle of two projects so once I get them up I'll be able to job hunt more vigorously.

Well, good luck with both the projects and the job hunt, then.

[Edit: Perkins! Your DVDs of LotR were very good friends for me this past week. So you were helping me, even without your knowledge! Are you all settled in your new place?]

I'm rarely able to do it myself, Nilly -- but it sure SOUNDS good, doesn't it? Rest as much as you can. Feel better.

The annoying part of being home sick is that being home when well has so many advantages to it - loads of books waiting to be read, stuff waiting to be watched, arranging waiting to be, well, arranged. I have a 9,000-pieces jigsaw puzzle just waiting for me to play with it. Instead, I was mainly busy in feeling miserable and even more miserable about not being able to do all these things.

My mom used to say, when we were kids, that the best sign for somebody feeling better is when they start complaining that they're bored.
