The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

the crappy way I was holding it

Part of this might be due to the shape of the grip and the shape of your hand. Glocks have fat grips, and I have small hands, and I always found myself trying to choke them to death because my grip felt insecure. Sigs were better, but my favorite fit is still the old 1911 Colt.

What distances and positions did you try?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My elbows were too far out, and my arms too rigid. I have a really hard time relaxing my shoulders these days.

The stance was isoceles, right foot slightly forward, feet wider than shoulder width apart, shoulders further forward than my hips, but square to the target. Arms almost fully extended, right cupping over the left.

It did fit my hand reasonably decently. My arms were the problem.

brillig

I like .22s and 9mm. .45's are just too big for my hands for me to feel comfortable controlling them with that much kick.

Then I started losing sensation in my toes.

I'm assuming you were barefoot. But did you get gloves?

Just back from friends' wedding in Ladera Heights. It was beautiful and eclectic. There was a white grand piano, a string quartet, a jazz trio, lots of singing and a belly dancer.

Nope. But my fingers were mobile enough that it wasn't a problem.

You know, I think I really like wetsuits. They're pretty cool. I could just get one for lounging.

The wedding sounds really lovely.

It was. The groom wrote the bride a song and performed (did I mention he's the music teacher at my previous school)?

I saw the woman who subbed for me while we were in New Zealand. She is now 38 weeks pregnant and beautiful. She had on a minidress (!!) and looked amazing.

Her husband works for a film advertisting agency. They do previews/trailers and occasionally the graphics and special effects for opening credits. In fact, the company for which he works did the whole Batman Begins campaign. NEAT JOB!

Depends on the thickness of the wetsuit. Our 7mm feel like you are being cuddled by a boa constrictor. When we go to Catalina, you should rent a wetsuit and either dive with Lori or go snorkeling with me.

That's so funny. I may (through krav) know one of his co-workers a little.

See? Fun!

I'll probably snorkel, depending on how cold and how fearful of said cold I'm feeling.

What distances and positions did you try?

Oh -- distances -- I was mostly at 7 yards, some at 10. I was surprised that no one at the range was shooting handguns any farther.

Freak.

Okay, bed time. Dogs are in my spot and I'll have to pitch them off the bed.
