Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Yup, I always check the URL first. Sounds like it was a good decision.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It wasn't that bad. I mean, if only she'd pluck some.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

How happy am I that Beauty and the Geek is using that Pet Shop Boys song as their theme? Sooooooo happy.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Honestly, I think if something a tenant is doing is a nuisance, the landlord ought to be able to legitimately evict them. Even if them being a nuisance is due to the landlord being an asshat about retrofits that aren't demanded by code or something.

Sure, it sucks but....

I've decided not to bake tonight.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Trying to figure out why I'm still feeling unsettled about the house buying. I guess I was expecting something more formal, so that I know this is our house. G is very zen about all this but a)he's been through house buying before and b)he's got enough stress at work that worrying about the house isn't even registering. Argh...

Ladies and gentlemen, the part of TomW is being played tonight by Sheryl, and the part of Nora Deirdre will be played by G.

It was quite freeing, actually, to have someone to do all the worrying for me. OK, I'm kidding, kind of. When do you sign the P&S and give them a big check? That'll make it feel formal like no one's business!

(my recent housebuying likes carrots)

Ms. Carey and Mr. Baar's heavy smoking - one pack a day each

Wow. This is considered "heavy smoking" now? Huh. I'll also note that it sounds like any strong odors would have carried into the neighbors' apartment, and I wouldn't generally call that grounds for eviction so much as grounds for fixing the ventilation system.

Also, I'm amused by all the flag rules. Honestly? I might have more respect for the flag as a symbol if I didn't run into it fifty times a day pressed into the service of every group who wants a claim to being "more American" than some other. Those rules treat the flag like a serious, important thing. Which, er.... nifty!

(Edit: Although I believe in Bob the Dorkface's right to wear a flag T-shirt that says, "I'm an American, so fuck you!" along with the right to maim, spindle, or burn it.)

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Me too.

Hee. They gave one of them Patrick's "hard man" hair cut from Coupling. Looks cute, though.

So I bought lovely homey-looking pickles, the kind with a photo of somebody's grandmother on the label and spices floating around inside, and got the jar home only to discover that they're made... without vinegar.

I mean, what the hell?
