I hate that too, Jesse. My mother does it all the time. Of course, she does it so that she can hear conversations that me or my brother has with my dad, but it's still irritating. I just say "could you pick up the handset, I'm having trouble hearing you." If they just get closer to the speakerphone, I have the satisfaction of knowing that I've made them be uncomfortable.

This is how I feel about ceiling fans!

What's wrong with ceiling fans?

Do they not have a second extension? That's how we do it in my family...

Heh. Mine too. And a headset for my dad who was forever dropping the phone, wedging it so we got to hear all sorts of bizarre head noises, etc. Oh, and he has to take the phone with the mute option and actually use it or my mom will get off the line. He's very unaware of noise.

I think they are strange, and not the natural order of things. Also ugly. And likely to fall on my head (although this may only be the one my (old) landlord installed). I have a serious ceiling fan hate-on.
I love my ceiling fan, it's a big quiet Hunter fan that I installed myself so I know it's secure. The living room one is kinda ugly though, I wouldn't mind Leif breaking that one so I could replace it.
I love ceiling fans. I only have one right now, in the bedroom, but it is always on. Mmm, breeze.
I adore ceiling fans. And there are pretty ones, as well as ugly ones.
Sophia -- that is totally crack-addled.
Okay, at work, must go Elseware's shopping (I'd kinda noticed that skirt before I left, juliana).
I bought local art this weekend! At least I think it was local. It was at a silent auction for a krav-run benefit. I was worried it'd make all the rest of the stuff that's waiting to be hung on my walls look bad, but .. eh.
