New brake pads, 4 new tires, alignment.
I knew I needed new tires, I was just hoping to do some comparison shopping and get them on the cheap. Except, I've been meaning to do that for months, so paying dealership prices for getting it done is better than the other plan of dying in a horrible accident.
We always get our tires replaced at Sears. They usually do it pretty cheaply.
Come to think of it, I've never put enough miles on one particular car to need to replace tires.
I should have gone to Costco. But the past few weeks have been insane-making, which means that this week and maybe the next will be me staring blankly at the walls/TV/walls trying to recover.
I am the sort of consumer whose lack ot discipline leads to dependence on one stop shopping (I'm not taking my car to the cheap and good oil change place if I can get my oil changed at the same time they fix my brakes). I don't know if my dealership dicks me around pricewise, but in terms of being helpful and timely (and doing some stuff for free), they've been topnotch. So they make money off my laziness.
Happy Birthday, askye!
I don't know anything aobut OXO, Oxo, or brake pads, but I do know that flea is totally justified in her Dancing With the Stars love because it is the best summer throw-away show ever! And last night the mystery of how they combine the audience vote with the judges' scores was revealed.
So they make money off my laziness.
Yeah, that happens to me.
Since our office moved there is now an auto repair shop right across the street so my laziness has resulted in me taking my cars there.
And my laziness won out over manliness so I bought a rebuilt carb rather than rebuild the current carb myself. Still, replacing the carb myself is somewhat manly, right?
I think Dancing With Stars and Beauty And The Geek need to have a cagematch smackdown.
Televised, of course.
This is reminding me that I need to change the oil, air, and fuel filters on the Minivan. We have a pretty nice dealership really close to our house, but their prices aren't very good. They just send a newletter that avertised they would replace a fuel filter for only $50. I can buy a fuel filter and replace it with no tools for about $5.
Unfortunately it's also due for a radiator flush and transmission fluid replacement. Gonna to have to pay someone for that. I thought about doing the radiator flush, but I've go no clue what to do with the waste.
Except, I've been meaning to do that for months, so paying dealership prices for getting it done is better than the other plan of dying in a horrible accident.
I do this as well. Which is why I put up with high or off on my fan for close to a year. Finally got it fixed when I had a massive tuneup.

This too. Though I DO get oil changes from the one JiffyLube my mechanic trusts, simply because they are open saturday and my mechanic isn't and it is less of a hassle to wait 30 minutes than to drop my car off for a whole day. Plus, they are right next to a carwash.
My mechanic is probably pricier than some (gets the best in baltimore award frequently and underwrites parts of the local public radio station) BUT it is close to work so easy for daylong repairs and they explain everything they are doing and why.
This latest interaction with them has been demoralizing, but that's not really their fault. Simple problem turned out to be much more complex and weird. Their term.
They should really call me about now....
