I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Also, what would we do with a base on the moon 10-15 years from now? Are we anticipating alien invasion? Is Mars really all that lucrative?

Once we're out of the Earth's gravity well and in the moon's much smaller well, further exploration gets cheaper and easier.

I, personally, am all for asteroid mining.

How else are we ever gonna get flying cars, after all?

Hey, has it gotten all cool out down here too?

Well, it is 85 and not nearly as humid today...

The NGST (now known as the James Webb Telescope) was proposed as a project in 1989. Mind you, a telescope. Been done before.

Its schedule is STILL slipping.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Also, that if you can get a thick straw to drink you milkshake with that is what you should do.

Real strawberry shakes require thick straws because of the chunks of fruit that can jam up the straw. Mmmm, now I'm craving strawberry shakes.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I just discovered that I have an MP3 of Sarah McLachlan singing "The Rainbow Connection" on my computer.

Sadly, this doesn't mean I don't have to go to the dentist in 25 minutes.

Condi Rice did say that military higher-ups were obsessed with the possibility of extraterrestrial intelligence.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I want Sarah singing The Rainbow Connection! Is it a good recording? (And I'm sorry to hear that Sarah doesn't have the power to fight plaque.)

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Things I have learned today: some very good tips on dog training that I'm thinking of printing and slipping under my neighbor-with-the-four-barky-dogs' door:

It's for Chow Chows in particular, but any dog would benefit from the common-sense advice.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Why am I not surprised by David's endorsement of Jessica's strategy?

I'm predictable dependable. In other exciting news, (which I assure you is entirely unrelated) Jessica has a digital camera.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I appreciate the arguments that robotic exploration of space is far cheaper, however I think that the exploration of Mars is going to be so complex that human presence will be required. A moon base is arguably a good step on the way to sending people to Mars.

I think finding life on another planet will be one of the most amazing scientific accomplishments ever (even if it's just microbial life on Mars) so I hope I get to see it.
