I'm all up in the law now, but damn it feels good to get my violence on.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm around for a couple more minutes, Allyson.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Hooray! Typing.

I'm not sure if I remember this correctly, but in Krav, is it typical to match opponents of ridiculously uneven size? I ask, because I'm writing about women v. men in law enforcement. I figure if you're a woman, an attacker is likely to be male, and much bigger than you are, and was wondering if you specifically matched up women with bigger, stronger men.

Not always right away, no. Depends on the level of confidence of both parties. Especially for combatives -- the kicking and punching. Below a certain size, you just don't want to be holding repetitively for strikes from a big person.

However, for the self defense, the escapes from chokes etc, it's very important to try them against a lot of different people, of very different sizes and shapes, because no two people attack the same way. Groundfighting and sparring are also very different with different sizes.

At about level 2 (4 or more months in) I have told women to mix it up and work with bigger people. By green belt, it's official -- if it's safe, they'll have you sparring with anyone in the room.

Unrelatedly:

Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman star Lane Smith has lost his battle with neuromuscular disease ALS and died in California, according to internet reports. The actor, 69, played Perry White in the hit TV series. In a posting on Superman fansite Kryptonsite.Com, a family statement reads, "Thanks for your concern and good wishes and prayers. We are sorry to tell you that my uncle Lane Smith died yesterday, a blessed relief from his ALS. Thank you so much for your support." Smith's other credits include roles in Red Dawn, Air America and The Mighty Ducks.

Thanks ita. To follow up, when you wake up tomorrow:

Have you found any differences between the sexes in terms of competitiveness? I'm wondering if there's any sort of GI Janeness amongst women to be better, stronger faster in terms of competing with men.

Our wings are not tired

Hey folks.

How's everyone? It's been a while since I've had any time to poke my head into natter.

I've just been dealing with contract stuff for a show tonight and need a break.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Hey, ND.

Allyson, I can't speak to generalizations as well as ita, but, at least for me, oh Hell yes. Especially after dealing with the ones who won't hit women on principle.
