Oh lori, you should. Waiting in line, I read a prologue from her, detailing who he was to her (namely, goofy dad) and...I've also read reviews of it and it just sounds like such an interesting view of him.
I love Feynman. He was an amazing person. I briefly thought about going into physics after reading his book, but then I realized that he made physics interesting and versatile, not the other way around. SYJMF is one of my favorite books.
"How did the evil children find us!"
Blogs are obviously a tool of Satan.
I love Feynman.
I have the book Genius sitting on my desk right now. The intro about his childhood is just magic.
But the bit where EW is actually fact checking a Scientology story, and I wonder if they're going to publish the results?
I think it was basically just the bit you quoted, ita. It was part of the interview with Cruise in this week's edition.
So. $1200. I didn't have heart to ask if that was on top of the $500 for just replacing the starter. I get past $1k and I stop noticing the hundreds till it hits $2k.
Eeek. It feels like our car is always in the shop since my accident last year, so I know what the sticker shock is like. I'm so glad your parents were able to help out.
Congratulations Lyra Jane! Are there any details you can share?
Sure -- sorry for the cryptic, I was just logging on for a sec before lunch. I'll be editing a newsletter and otherwise providing writerly support in the publications division of a medical trade association. And the pay and the people are both very nice, so I'm excited.
There's a man down the hall from me who is taking photos of one section of our library. (I think he was hired by the firm; he has professional looking equipment at any rate.)
He seems to have decided that some of the books weren't worthy of being photographed, since they are in a pile on the floor.
I'm torn between feeling sorry for the books and irratated because they are out of order.
There may just be a reason I became a librarian.
Congrats, LJ. I think my parents' presence and unflappability helped most of all. These things happen, etc, let us take you out to dinner.
It's funny, I had a good week, despite being nibbled to death. First there was the ant invasion (killed dead.) Then the car. Then the sink. And let's not talk about how I'm still suspicious of my a/c as it is running all day and barely maintaining 76 and I'm going to hate this electric bill.
But still, a good week.
And I just punched a hole in the top of my pinky.
I need to be saved from myself.

I'd definitely feel more sorry for the books. They were just doing their jobs, and now they're on the floor...
Hivemind question: I've gone on ten interviews. Most of them are still somewhere in their decision process. Do I need to call them all and let them know I'm out of the running? Does it make a difference if it's a job I really want vs. one I just interviewed for because I need to work to buy catfood?
lisah, the porch method sounds good, if that's ok with you
I'll leave a message for myself right now to put it out there this evening! Do you remember the addresss?
First there was the ant invasion
I keep waiting for them to show up around the pets' dishes but none so far this year. (Knocking all the woods)

My feeling is, so many employers don't even bother to contact you if they go with someone else, even after interviews, that I say fuck 'em. OTOH, I would actually call or send a note to the ones you really liked and may encounter the company/people in the future.
