Bag the crypto. Say what is on your mind.

The goilfriend has a deal with our Swiss Overlords that permits travel expenses home every six months. It also permits a significant other. We will thereby be going to Seoul on the company dime.

Having had an opportunity to visi-voip with the Korean fam, I am somewhat sure that they will not drop dead of heart failure when they see me. Still, I have some insecurity. If the rest of them are as brainy as the goilfriend is, I fear that I will misrepresent America.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Re the absinthe talk, as it happens, the Croatian eatery where meara, John and I stopped for a drink offered absinthe. I think they also offered absinthe and Coke.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Timelies!

The wedding I went to was just lovely, the hotel was abundantly air-conditioned, the food was good and the company of friends was marvelous. Even the drive back was pleasant -- the roads weren't badly crowded on Saturday night, and I had an unabridged reading of Krakatoa: The Day The Earth Exploded to amuse me over the many miles.

Now, unfortunately, I'm sitting in my messy un-AC'd kitchen facing a day of heat and humidity and house-cleaning. I guess it balances out....

What is even happening?

Theo, if you don't have any air conditioning units, go get yourself one. Home Depot has one as low as $79.00, and a couple in the $120s. I firmly believe people need at least one room in the house that can provide some respite from the heat.

I actually do have AC, although the one in the living room is wheezy and weak. It's just that I kind of wanted to spend time in the other rooms....

Yeah, my diamond shoes are too tight. How are yours?

Oh, good. I'm glad you have something. My friend from Texas (who sometimes lurks here, hi ww) just said to me it only took her one night here to realize that "the myth that Yankeeland doesn't need air conditioning is, well, a myth."

My diamond shoes are also too tight. I think my feet swell in the heat.

The heat wouldn't be so bad...it's the damn humidity we've had lately that's the killer! Thanks for those links, Cindy. I think we may go check out one of those for Emily's room. I stole hers, 'cause I just couldn't sleep or stand it (and it's not really big enough to cool her room). I went in her room this morning to tell her goodbye before I left for work, and her room was like an oven. I felt so badly.

Oh, I'm having MAJOR lust of the new portable air conditioners. I think I may try talking Emily into this one: [link] We wouldn't have to worry about dropping it out the window, three floors down on to someone's head!
