Favorite summer dessert?

Cherries.

Beach or pool?

Always pool. Sand is of the devil.

Predictions on the overplayed song of summer '05?

I have not listened to the radio in so long and I tried to watch TRL the other day, but I got scared. So, I'm gonna have to sit this one out.

What was your worst family summer vacation?

We weren't big on the let's all pack up in the car and go somewhere vacations. And my mom thinks a three star hotel is slumming, so we generally had good vacations. Let's see. . .we went down to Rosarita Beach one time for a long weekend and my dad got laid low by Montezuma's Revenge. That was not too fun.

your best?

Hmm. . . going to Puerto Varas, Chile with my mom and taking an amazing boat ride across the Lago de Todos Los Santos. So beautiful.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Favorite summer dessert?

POPSICLES!!!!

Beach or pool?

Pool. I prefer to be on the water at the beach.

Predictions on the overplayed song of summer '05?

Defying Gravity because I'm going to see Wicked at the end of July and it's all I play now and will be all I play after. I don't listen to much radio.

What was your worst family summer vacation?

Didn't really have one. They were all fun.

your best?

The summer we spent touring the U.P.

The summer we spent touring the U.P.

The only thing coming to mind is the Unidad Popular, and since I don't think that would have been much fun, what with the riots and getting shot and all, I have to say that I am stumped.

Sorry - Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We spent 4 weeks seeing pretty much everything. My mom called it our "Waterfall Tour". Must have seen a billion waterfalls that summer.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Favorite summer dessert?

Marionberry pie. Unless you're paying my way to Philly so I can get me some water ice.

Beach or pool?

Can I say "dramatic rocky coastline"?

Predictions on the overplayed song of summer '05?

Dunno. Am pop music clueless.

What was your worst family summer vacation?

Don't remember a bad summer one. There was a spring break where I was a whiny, bratty 13-year-old over being dragged along by my parents when I wanted to be on the Washington trip with the 8th graders--they'd had a few extra spaces and invited a few select 7th graders, but Mom and Dad thought I was too young.

your best?

The camping trip we took out west when I was 9--three weeks of mountains and national parks.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Last x-ray I started getting snarky at the questions. "Do I look fifteen months pregnant?" was my personal favorite.

I'm actually worried about Katie Holmes. She doesn't seem to realize that she's a beard. She seems to be genuinely in love/limerance/infatuated. She's going to be a bitter bitter woman when she susses it out.

If she didn't know at first she did once she signed the confidentiality agreemnt. There's no way he's going to risk a beard writing a book.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Favorite summer dessert? Raspberry sorbet and/or Dole Frozen Raspberry Pops (with the pulp).

Beach or pool? Uncrowded beach due to the "Cooler by the lake" factor, but only if it's uncrowded.

Predictions on the overplayed song of summer '05? As long as it's not "Macarena," I'm fine with it. My favorite overplayed summer hit of my youth, though, is Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good." Love that horn line.

What was your worst family summer vacation? The most boring ones were probably the times we went down to see my grandparents at the first retirement house down in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Not much to do, hot and buggy, and enforced time with my stepmother and step-sibs. Yay.

your best? I mentioned the New England trip last time we did the 5 Questions thing, but the big family vacation I really remember fondly before the 'rents got divorced was when we did the Illinois/Missouri tour, from Rockford then down the Mississippi (brief stopover at Hannibal, MO), stopping at Navoo for the afternoon and luckily seeing the Delta Queen paddling by (back in the 1970s, the Delta Queen was the only old-time paddleboat still on the Mississippi). Then, it was Springfield and New Salem (rubbing Lincoln's nose for luck at his tomb, of course), and ending in St. Louis (the Arch and Six Flags were the highlights here). Other than Dad losing his temper when he got lost in St. Louis and threatening to drive back home if Mom didn't get off his back (and sending my sister and me into hysterics since we were convinced he would), it was a fun weeklong drive.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Favorite summer dessert?

I don't have a favourite dessert, and don't get the season distinction, so I'll go like bon and choose a drink. Normally it's the sangria that begs to be consumed at that sidewalk restaurant, but now I'm leaning mojito-wards.

Beach or pool?

Beach. Proper beach, with proper ocean.

Predictions on the overplayed song of summer '05?

I'll go with Hollaback Girl, since I've heard of it. I haven't done radio or MTV in months.

What was your worst family summer vacation?

For me, none. For my parents, probably the driving trip where I decided I wanted to learn all the Tolkien poetry in LotR and The Hobbit.

your best?

They've all be pretty good. If we're not talking immediate family, the month in the villa in Montego Bay (with driver and maid and Half Moon privileges) certainly ranks. But my parents did good holidays -- be it Frenchman's Cove and the stream that ran to the beach by the cliffs, or the Lake District or Brecon Beacons.
