No. You're missing the point. The design of the thing is functional. The plan is not to shoot you. The plan is to get the girl. If there's no girl, then the plan, well, is like the room.

Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I'm reading a pretty decent fic, but I keep forgetting not to read the end notes, where the author pulls a needy "hey guys, was it okay? I'm sorry if this sucked" and many variations on the theme. It doesn't even feel like guilt tripping to get comments. The fact that it's a part of almost every chapter (there are thirty) is detrimental to my fic enjoyment. Those are the notes at the end. The notes at the beginning are just as awful, but I've had better success skimming those.

Always Anti-fascist!

Don't you just feel like sending a note back like "Dang, it's a fic...you didn't kill anybody."

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Blinking in disbelief.

SG-1/Ikea crossover. [link]

shaking head.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

It really does. I never watched the show(s), but I'll almost always read the fic.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Not SG-1, but my favorite space!Ikea story is a Star Trek story written for the space_married LJ comm many years ago:

Renovation b canistakahari. Jim has a whammy put on him by an alien death ray and he suddenly craves domesticity. He's crazy with longing to shop at space!Ikea and get potted bamboo and he starts looking into adopting AND HE HATES HIMSELF AND CANNOT CONTROL THE SHIT. Luckily, McCoy is drunk all the time and plays house.

Oh goodness, a fic contained a typo that I'm assuming was because of more familiarity with the rapper than with the adjective: ludacris.

I'm afraid that happens far too frequently, not necessarily that particular word, but with anything that a person hasn't run across except in that sort of context. I laugh and go on. Although, it does make me wonder if they have a beta.

I'm on a roll, tonight, reccing fics. I came across something that those who are a fan of Narnia might enjoy; it deals quit intelligently with The Problem of Susan. I especially like the way the author took a quote by C.S. Lewis to shove it down his throat that Susan would be welcomed back to Narnia when she grew up. The Queen's Return by HonorH. (I actually went looking for her on AO3 for a particular Doctor Who/Firefly crossover and stumbled on this instead.)
