Types of fanfic I apparently read, based on today and yesterday:

• Wow, this is amazing, and I am filled with a horrible combination of feels and envy. BRB, deleting everything I've ever written now.

• This is really well written, so why isn't it working for me? It's working for everyone else, damn it!

• You know, I thought this was great the first time I read it, in that other fandom, five years ago.

• This idea was so promising, and I am so sad the execution betrayed it.

• God, I want to be able to read this writer's native tongue.

• This story is awful. The porn, however, is really uncomfortably hot. Thank fuck for private bookmarks.

• Dear fucking lord, there is nothing about this that is good, why the hell am I still reading it, why?

• ACK, WHERE THE FUCK DID THIS STONY COME FROM, YOU FUCKING FUCK! THAT WASN'T IN THE FUCKING TAGS! MAKE IT FUCKING GO THE FUCK AWAY! I HATE YOU! EWW! EWW! EWW! (I may have a strong NOTP. Like, Angel/Cordy strong.)

I feel like someone should do an "entirely invented ship" ficathon. Clint/Coulson, Mycroft/Lestrade, Ori/anyone from the Hobbit...

On another topic, there's a page for ita at Fanlore, which is OTW's fandom history wiki. If anyone with information wanted to add it to the page, that would be great. Though they've already got some information about her art, which is great.

I feel like I have so many more examples but I am just spinning my wheels in the Hobbit for the forseeable future.

In the last three months, I have written:

• The Thick of It wingfic
• Mary Renault / TED talks mantisfuck voreworld.

My sense of shame: farther gone than Mae West's cherry.

Markham/Stackhouse, Lorne/Parrish.

Ha! I have watched all of SGA and I have no idea who those people are. Well, I think I remember Lorne. The rest, not so much.

I might grumble at how these pairings almost always involve two white dudes, but then, there are a bunch of Darcy-centric fic in Avengers that involve various characters she's never met.

Lorne and Parrish had one scene together, but it's spawned hundreds of fics. But they had great snarky interaction, which is more than enough for (some of) us.

BTW, are all fandoms overrun with High School/College AUs these days or is that because all the shows I watch are on CW? It seems like these account for about the half the fic I encounter when I go trolling for fic randomly. (While the other half appears to be babyfic, like, I'd rather read a thousand poorly-written High School AUs.)

I see Avengers High Schools fics, and I'm boggled. I'm reading for assassins and spies and damaged billionaires and WWII veterans. Not high school kids.

Though some of the Coffee Shop fics are amusing.

all fandoms are overrun since forever. I'm sure somewhere in some fanzine there's a very intense story about how Kirk was the jock and Spock was the math geek and they had a Taylor Swiftian romance that ended with them being prom kings.

The HS/College au is kind of a sign that fandom has worked through most of its thoughts/feels in canon and now needs something fluffy and adorable to feed the feels.
