Thank you!
Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?
This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.
I'm pretty sure I know what I want to request, but now comes the part where I dither madly about what to offer.

Ocean's 11.
What? I'm totes impartial.
Ahhh.
I randomly asked IO9ers to write Mary Sue fanfiction, and I think it's a good way to ferret out people who've clearly read too much fic. To wit:
Dr. Grant glanced at Dr. Sattler, who exchanged glances with him. Sounds like this guy is incredibly smart and probably also physically attractive, Grant thought. I hope I make a good first impression.
I should not have looked at the nominations for Yuletide in movies. Because I just watched Cabin in the Woods, and hey, it's there! With a bunch of other movies I'd maybe feel semi-confident about writing fic about!
Having done Yuletide a grand total of once before, I may ask for hand-holding if I sign up. Is it okay to request fic in a few of the same fandoms you offer?
(I cannot BELIEVE I am thinking about doing Yuletide. I have way too much other stuff I'm supposed to be doing.)
OH G-DDAMIT. Not only is Beetlejuice listed in movies, but both The Night Circus and the Parasol Protectorate series are nominated in books. I think I'm doomed.

It's perfectly legit to ask/offer. I've got one overlapping fandom on my sign up. I'm delighted to see that you might be participating! Did you see that Gashlycrumb Tinies is an eligible fandom?
Also, you can see current ask-to-offer ratios here. It's a little misleading in that it won't show offers if there are no asks.

No, no I did not.
I need to stop kidding myself; I'm signing up for Yueltide. Even with my other commitments, it's kind of inevitable. Now to figure out what fandoms I want to offer vs. what ones I want to read ...
1) Yuletide signups have been extended until October 31.
2) If you want a place to hide from U.S. politics, may I recommend [link]
I have been reading Glee fanfics, and have discovered a pet peeve that annoys me even more than "the blonde" or "the younger man". It is "The Latina".
