Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

She's added a new post with various justifications, blah blah blah. This one allows comments.

And it mentions prayer! Which, dude. You wanna ask for money because you don't want to get a job, go ahead; I'm not giving you any, and I'm gonna think less of you for it, but it's your business. But don't bring God into it.

Thrive to spite them

I can't believe the gall of some people.

In the post before she talks about how she never has enough money for fun things or to do anything and how hard it is. And then she's begging for money because oh noes!1!! she has to work and has all these obiligations and she cant' write.

Yeah, it sucks not to have pretty shiny things -- like an iPod, or being able to afford Vividcon --- or, I don't know, benefits. It's called life, suck it up and deal.

brillig

I'm appalled at the SG-1 writer who "sells" PDF downloads of her zines at $8 a pop; but there at least the fic's already been written.

I've seen several people who sell enhanced versions of their fics, saying, "Well, it's got the extra illustrations, and some extra chapters, and the money goes entirely towards the production." Uh huh.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

OMG -- according to one of the commenters, this girl lives with her mom, and works PART TIME.

I have no words.

I commented on the second post. Too bad I didn't have a really really snarky icon, like one of the penguins from InfiniteMonkey's post yesterday.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I'm actually tempted. But I'm letting it go.

You could write SGA instead... I'm just saying.

Talk about the entitlement economy.

So goes our nation, and so goes fandom, you know? And the Harry Potter kerfuffling over book six is just the latest shiny example.

It's a bit like distasteful busking, isn't it?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

According to some comments on her second post, she's already been reported to the LJ powers that be. Maybe her entitled ass will get TOSed and we can all go on with our regularly scheduled kerfluffles.

Hey. New board.

Ignoring the idiot lady because, really, don't care that much. Instead, just thanking the rec for "Cartographer's" - it has been converted by me to a single HTML file for viewing on my Pocket PC by the pool! Yay!

I love novel-length fics.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

You could write SGA instead... I'm just saying.

Hee. I'm thinking on it. I have plans. Evil plans. Big gay evil plans.

Also, my scenario for the Worst-Case Scenario thing is priceless. I'll have to bounce ideas off you at some point.
