Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

In the middle of explaining fic to my parents (why they were being coy, I don't understand--they read my Mary Sue stories) my sister would make COUGHSLASHCOUGH noises.

Ah, hello? Who fed you all the Inception stories, homeslice? I'm not going down here alone...

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

(they haven't really read my writing either. But they think it's great that I have a hobby. Sigh.)

Therapist I saw after getting out of the hospital, I'd have hated to try to explain to her that, no really, the control issues I keep writing about are the characters', not mine. Or my mother's. Or Daniel's.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Oh, fanfic writer, why you gotta do that to me?

An Avengers story that in the first line throws me out: because dude, there were no US soldiers in Iraq in 2000. No, seriously, there weren't.

::sigh::

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

That's like bumping into an H50 fic supposedly set in 1941 and had Danno sitting on the beach listening to a transistor radio in the first paragraph. Uh, no. Every time someone recced the story I wanted to scream at them to stop reccing shit where the author doesn't do the most basic research.

Thrive to spite them

I had to stop reading a few SGA fics that had Rodney guzzling Mountain Dew.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Mountain Dew

Mountain Dew is everywhere! It's the juice of the stars!

Thrive to spite them

It has concentrated orange juice in it. and "natural flavors" that I assume are citrusy.

brillig

Well, there is a faction of fandom that says Rodney's allergies are psychosomatic or even consciously an attention-getting device.

Though I'd have hit the back button on that fic as well.

Thrive to spite them

Even if they were psychosomatic he wouldn't be drinking Mountain Dew.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Unless "Mountain Dew" referred to bootleg liquor fermented from on board fruit juice and vacuum distilled. (Maybe from fruit he was not allergic to..)
