Okay, I tried not to be as affronted as I felt, and told him that posterity would have to live with the typos.

Man, I'm in a foul mood these days.

Because books.

Foul mood or not, he was way out of line. He wouldn't suggest that to the author of a book already on shelves, would he? Why is this different?

Also, the idea that he'll gladly tell you how he feels about the story after you let him come in and clean it up? BARF.

I'm sure he didn't actually realize that's what he was saying: those guys never do. Oy.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

He was trying to be HELPFUL! and PROACTIVE.

Which, in the real world, is not what he was being at all. At all.

Brenda still made me laugh. Out loud even.

I know! I'm such a bitch for turning him down!

Thing is, the betas I used: (1) is a long-time Narnia fan and writer (Snacky); (2) is a British fan and writer who knows a helluva lot about WII UK (Finisterre). I couldn't have hoped for better betas, and I'm betting that at least some of the Britpicks/errors this guy wanted to fix were questions of style or interpretation rather than correctness.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Gah. That sort of presumption is some kind of special.

I've been reccing Carpetbaggers to anyone I know who likes Narnia fic.

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Well, I just finished writing 32k of Discworld fic. That's certainly a thing.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Is finished? (she asked, hopeful)

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Anne, did you get your chat? Can you share what set you off? Or is it all behind you now and better left there?

Also, yay, Holli!
