"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

A question for those of you who are more experienced in reading fanfic than I am: when an author replies to my review of her fic and refers to me as "bb" what does that mean? I've seen it other places, and I gather from the context that it's friendly, but does it actually stand for something?

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I think it's meant to be pronounced bébé, as that's the French for baby, and that's how the letters "bb" would be pronounced in French.

I could be wrong, though.

Ah. Thank you. So it's an affectation, but at least it's a friendly one.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

So it's an affectation,

I've seen some sites and programs when reading fic that automatically strip any letter with accents from the text. I'm guessing that was the origin, and it's probably morphed by now.

I don't know where to put this, so I'll stick it here. Laura Shapiro just posted a Lorne vid, which will rip out your heart and dance on it. Here: [link]

RIP, Andy.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

*sob*

It's probably for the best that I have fuck-all to do at work today other than watch that vid over and over and sniffle loudly.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Thanks for that link, 'suela. Sniffling a little here myself.

Huh.

Historical novelist Jo Graham is teaming up with SF/F novelist Melissa Scott to write a six-volume series of Stargate Atlantis novels.

::blinks::

I have to admit, I don't know why they didn't hire Martha Wells for it. But, whatever.

Still, Fandemonium isn't exactly the place where you make your fortune...

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Oooh! That's a franchise tie-in I'd for once be interested in, if only because Teyla is likely to get a fair treatment with that authoring.
