Which one makes you feel more like yourself and comfortable?
'Hell Bound'
Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?
This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.
I had to try them both on again. I like them both, but I think the blue one feels more Club Vividy to me.
I edited my post because the "like yourself and pretty" was too redundant
::seethe, seethe, seethe::
Cleavage!
Or, blue. Blue is good. Go blue.
Ok, new line, I'm emphatically NOT down with Presidential RPF. I mean, it's nice to have an attractive Pres. again and I hope that he and Michelle have a satisfying intimate life(and I know he and Rahm are very big with the touching, with each other and Pelosi,) but it's not even that I'm a prude...I just want to pretend that they think solving the nation's problems is the biggest orgasm of all. I mean, I've seen what the Mayor did on The Wire so I kind of know it's not true, but I'd like to believe that and I can't if I read them sneaking off into some conference room to shag like rabbits.
Firstly, Erika, that sounds absolutely awful. Not even awful enough to read for snark value, just...dreadful.
Secondly, I dimly recall that there's a way to change the appearance of a fic in lj so that it magically takes on the appearance of your own journal. But I've been trolling through the FAQ listings and can't find out how to do it. (There's a story where the page is divided vertically; the left side is a medium green, the right side is dark green, and the text is in white and goes across both sides.) I just can't torture myself enough to read it as is; is there some way to convert it to the traditional (but oh so readable) white background/black text? I was hoping someone here would know how to do this.
Thirdly, I came across a listing for a story called...drumroll please...The Vampire Doyen. The author's note is: "Doyen is French for Dean." You might think this is a frisky Victorian-era erotica about randy schoolgirls crossed with a Twilight-type vampire as the headmaster, but you'd be wrong. It's our very own Dean Winchester. (She says it's written for "My own sick pleasure. I love vampires, love Sammy and love Dean..what could be better than tossing all that together in a salad of sensuality? [smirks]"). Another one that I can't bring myself to read, even for the snark value.
I know, Morgana, I'm horrified. Who knew I had so many reverent and respectful impulses, for one?(Not to mention I'm embarrassed that I spent three minutes I may have to account for at the end of my life thinking "In an Obama/Emanuel pairing, nobody would ever want to be the bottom. Ever." Which filled my heart with icky shame.) But really? The first black president, Jewish COS, and woman Speaker don't deserve better than embarrassing porn?! I'm pretty live and let live, but that ain't right. For one, I think they would be totally skeeved...you don't go into public service to get that sort of attention(Well, not like that. Even allowing for the Democratic Weakness of infidelity and so forth.)
I swear I have only read the Biden/Everyone story.
Which, IIRC, was called "Joe Biden Really Likes Trains, OK?" or something.
Because for the most part, Erika, I totally agree. I draw the line there. The fuzzy one. Where I only read it if it's utterly crackaddled and PG-13, tops.
(I started with gen Rahm and Misha Collins fic. Thankfully, it didn't actually go downhill from there.)
Morgana, when you're reading the journal entrie on lj, there should be a navigation bar across the top of the screen. In the middle of the navigation panel it will say you're "viewing so-and-so's journal". Right below that should be an option to "view in my style." Clicky-clicky and you'll be reading it in your own journal's style. This will be your default setting for all journals after that unless you decide to change it back to "view in original style."
SailAweigh, thanks for the info. I checked, and under "You are viewing so-and-so's Journal," the only option I have is "Add them as a friend." I assumed something was missing from my navigation bar and went to the page where you can Customize Journal Style. There's a section there about the navigation bar, but it doesn't say anything about changing how a page is viewed. I have a free account; maybe that makes the difference?
