Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

In terms of crack RPF fic, have you read Chash's stuff [link] especially the Tractorbeam stories? [link]

She also wrote a Misha fic I think you might like [link]

On the non-rpf side, her Leverage stuff is quite good as well.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Owen Wilson is a hilarious mental substitute for Chad, who looks like a low-rent Justin Timberlake with dinnerplate-sized nipples.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

I've read the Tractorbeam story (or at least the first) - I enjoyed it a lot, but I suspect I'd have enjoyed it more if I'd seen the TV show it's based on? But today I have read a Splash AU and a reworking of Tootsie. And there was a FANTASTIC spy one by fleshflutter that was like mainlining a whole season of Alias, only with added gay.

I have concluded that it's cracktastic AUs I'm enjoying, rather than RPF. Just random RPF that's recognisably about the actors does still squick me. (Which isn't to say I won't read it, but - mostly it squicks me.) But this whole cracktastic AU thing is like something else entirely - it's kind of like acting out a story with your Barbie dolls. Only, you know - awesomer. And especially cracktastic slash AUs, which are of course what I'm mostly looking at - it's fascinating what changes are wrought. I mean, I like the Sabrina fic more than the original movie. It actually makes more sense for the Linus character to be a closet case than to be an asexual workaholic.

So - whether the AUs are about real people or fictional people kind of doesn't matter. It's like suddenly I realise that the whole world can be crazy gay penguins, you know?

Yes! And speaking of cracktastic AUs, one I learned about in your LJ, Fay: Gerard Way's (Vampire) Detective Agency. Oh, my heart! It's my favorite, right after the infamous Bandpires story.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Instead of doing anything I'm supposed to be doing, I'm in the middle of watching Francesca Coppa talk about the genealogy of vidding, with examples. It's good stuff, and there's some vids in there some of you may not have seen before. (Like "Detachable Penis".)

When do you leave for vividcon, Dana?

Have fun!

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Francesca's vidding genealogy talk is fantastic. And I'm NOT AT ALL SEETHING WITH JEALOUSY at the VVC-goers.

(also I need to use my phone for fandom rather than work email more often, because it still seems to think the word is "bidding")
