Er, I've written a sequence of five PotC/Sandman stories (must get around to penning 2 more, but these 5 make a self-contained story arc as is):Endless Days, and also one HP/Sandman crossover, in which Snape encounters Death. fwiw. Although I'm sure I've already waved them at people.

(Truthfully, the Sandman/PotC sequence is one of my very favourite things-that-I-have-written. Jack Sparrow never ceases to amuse me, particularly when encountering Delirium or Anansi. And I do heart all the characters like burning.)

Am presently writing a sequence of Firefly/Sandman, because that really needed doing (and, I realised, was actually on my fic To Do list, funnily enough). Might post them over in the fanfic workshop thread as I go along, actually.

I recall Vanzetti wrote a Sandman/SPN crossover in which John Winchester meets Death. It was good.

Ever feel vaguely...well, I won't say "violated" because it's too serious for getting squicked by a bit of fanfic, but...sullied or besmirched might work, by an AU that totally doesn't match the tone of the original?(And this isn't about the warning thing, cause she told me,I just was thinking more of the "Pretty Woman" sort of rentboy fic. It's my own fault, and yet... I'm the reason the package says "take pizza out of package," aren't I?

Yeah. Even the best meant warnings can't always convey just how different something might be from what you're expecting. I've had my share of fics where I wished I'd really believed the author's warnings. I think the problem is with many folks thinking their fics are darker than they actually are and labeling something "dark" that's maybe only a little muddy, so when you come across one that's really in the depths of the pits, you're unprepared for it.

And, quite frankly, both the love and the pain of this particular series? is how consequence free the lead's life is...if anybody could have Happy!Fun!Prostitution, it's Vincent Chase. Which I can't decide if that is a compliment or a burn, but it's still true. So I'm not ready for him, or anyone in that show to be, you know, scary.ETA: I wanted to feel a little dirty...just not that much. Yikes.

Oh gods yes. I read the warning, I did, and then I read the opening half-page to get a feel for the writing, and the writing was compelling. I knew what was going to happen. In fact I read the epilogue to make sure I had no unrealistic expectations, and then I read the whole story.

All that prep was not enough to brace me for the emotional devastation. Sometimes, even the warnings aren't enough.

No, and sometimes I overstate my non-vanilla evolution. Don't quite need the brain *bleach* but something in a nice solvent might help.
