No. You're missing the point. The design of the thing is functional. The plan is not to shoot you. The plan is to get the girl. If there's no girl, then the plan, well, is like the room.

Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

What Dreams Are Made Of - Dean/Castiel. This has a clever central conceit that brings the hot without once being self-indulgently out of character. Cracking analysis of both Dean and Castiel, and it's got a real kick.

OMG, I love the internet.

Somebody already wrote a lovely Supernatural/Pushing Daisies crossover, so now I don't have to. Although I still might, possibly. Because - pie! And dead things! And the Winchesters in the middle of that candy-coloured world!

nods

It really, was, wasn't it? It was almost exactly the story that I had in my head, so now I don't need to write it. I loved the voiceover stuff particularly, but everyone was just so fabulously in-character that it just slayed me!

Only I would have liked a bit more Dean/Pie, because that may be OTP.

Things that are odd:

I've spent most of the past day and a half trying to upload podfics from my laptop. It's a thankless task, which is why I abandoned it as hopelessly impractical months ago, and just went ahead and made podfics for my own amusement, rather than to share - I don't know whether it's the crapitude of my connection, or the server, or what, but, Jesus, it takes HOURS AND HOURS AND HOUR. And then when it's 90% uploaded, the damn page just decides to navigate away for some reason, and you have to start all over again.

Anyhoo, I've had another crack, and kept at it ALL DAY, and ALL YESTERDAY, and managed to upload 3 fics to YouSendIt, (Yahtzee's 'Jack Bristow at the Edge of Reason', Shalott's 'Queen of Spades' and Spuffyduds' 'I Would Rather Be Anywhere Else Than Here Today'). And Jinjur, bless her, has put them up on her lovely site.

Only, I've just realised that she's changed my name to Fearless_Jones. Rather than FayJay. I don't know quite how that happened, but it did.

And now I sort of feel like I should be Fearless_Jones, whoever she is. I mean, she sounds pretty cool, no? Maybe she's Indiana Jones's younger sister, the one with the violet eyes and the perfect singing voice, who taught Indy how to wield a bullwhip. (Although her real name would be Mary Sue; they'd have named the cat 'Fearless'.)

Or maybe Fearless Jones is Ianto's secret identity? Or Martha's nickname?

Um.

feels odd.

Also, I want to go to a slash con. I really do. Why are there no slash cons that are convenient for me to attend? Why?

shakes tiny fist at universe

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Eh, I reckon anyone who's interested has already seen it, but just in case: The Consequences of Falling, the story that ate my brain. Dean/Castiel, 38,000 words.

Also, lest anyone be interested, as mentioned above I've recently uploaded several new podfics here in various fandoms. I'm particularly fond of the Slings and Arrows one - it's just such a fantastic story, imho. Bless. Poor Oliver.
