Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

I think the judge made the right call. Rowling's work is the base, and this guy is trying to make a profit off of her work.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Is there any way to get around lj's stupid adult content warning page from a hand-held? Logging in doesn't help, I just keep getting looped back to that page.

Galleycat talks about fanfic's tendency to slash and how mainstream authors feel about it.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

If anyone's looking for a really good after-the-books-end Neville fic, I can recommend The Colors of Fire by Sher over at Checkmated. She just finished it, and it's one of the best not-starring-Harry HP fics I've read.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Thank you Kathy. I love Neville, and long drawn out romances, which this is shaping up to be (I am on chapter 4).

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

OTW's launched the beta of their fannish history wiki, Fanlore.

t goes back to trying not to spend entire day on Fanlore

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

And now OTW has opened the Archive of Our Own for browsing and beta. You can't create an account yet, but you can go in and look around and offer feedback (as long as you're using Firefox). Browser compatibility is one of the last things they'll work on.

It's so PRETTY.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Which reminds me, my very first rec to something on the OTW Archive: [link]

OTW fandom. No, really. And hilarious in its meta-ness.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

That is a wonderful story. Full of conflict and cooperation, pretty things and people and pictures, and buckets o' fun.

Plus? I like when I can make out the narrative from the pictures. That was never my strong suit in preschool (I didn't mean that in a catty way, I'm serious. I'm much more text than picture oriented. 'S why I can't grok graphic novels and comics).

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

So.... how do stories get archived there?

(There's probably a link someone can give me, rather than explaining, because I'm sure I'm the last person to know...)
