Yeah, okay. Thanks for that.
Aaaand suddenly I find myself feeling a surge of antipathy towards the WGA. Which is most unreasonable.

I can't watch the video, but Fay, never take *anything* seriously that comes from Lee G*ldb*rg's blog.
Yeah. He's kind of known as a wanker. It's his only actual talent.
Oh, I know that. See, the thing is I don't think he made it, or had anything to do with it. I think he's just posting it because he thinks it's oh-so-funny-and-incisive.
(It's called The Writers Room, [sic] and is written, shot, directed and edited by Jason Buckley. Whoever he may be.)
It's a minisode thing, showing what crazy whackjobs fanficcers are, with their perverse slash-lovin' ways and their total lack of social skills etc, in order to underline how smashing proper writers are, and how very much the studios need them. Ho ho ho.
Honestly, it left a very bitter taste in my mouth; with Allyson doing her damnedest to help raise money for the Crew over the Christmas period, with fans marching to support the writers - and, let's face it, it's only the hardcore geek people who know who hell the writers are, and who actually GIVE a damn about them. Joe NonObsessed TellyViewer Guy could really care less, and isn't going to be sending any of his hard-earned money to support the WGA (with crazy pencil funds or with Cash for the Crew or whatever). With all that - sure, let's take the piss out of the fans. They're all just so whacky and freaky! Captain Sanity does not drive their tugboat!
::sighs::
But he's not speaking for the WGA -- he's on their side in the strike (and should be), but he's some dude with a blog and some vidding software.
(To clarify: the Buckley dude, not LG: but don't let either one of them turn you off the writers, because it's not the writers talking here.)

And that's the only reason LG posted it.

He's a jackass, Fay, and not worth your anger. Although Fandom_wank had some nice commentary on him yesterday, which I found amusing.
Do the Yuletide stories go live and readable to the general public on Christmas Eve?
Jonah Goldberg? I think he got his job because of who his mommy is.(If I have the right guy) He is probably sad that he has such a small dick, nobody could slash him with anybody. And he thinks he's witty...he's half right.
I'm sorry, I've evidently expressed myself badly.
I do realise that Jason Buckley isn't speaking for the WGA - however, he's put together a little show which is explicitly aiming at showing how important real writers are by depicting fanficcers as talentless freakazoids. That is the entire purpose of the filmlet: to support the WGA by taking the piss out of fanficcers. This strikes me as cheap
And that's the only reason LG posted it.
Um, yes. So? Really, LG has nothing to do with my post. Dana, if I knew how to make the linky link go directly to wherever Lee took it from, I'd have done that. But I don't know how to do that. I'm well aware of who he is and what his stance is on fanfic. That doesn't leave me feeling disappointed.
The fact that some bloke got a team of actors and a videocamera and made a whole wee filmlet to support the Writers' Strike by ridiculing fanficcers - that makes me feel irritable and disheartened. And pissy with the WGA by association, in much the same way I might feel pissy about a charity if Joe FilmmakerGuy was belittling, oh, say the teaching profession, or my home town, or something else I care about, in order to make said charity look good. Regardless of whether he was doing it with said charity's permission.
It's nice that you didn't have that response to the film. You're obviously nicer people than I am.
