Everybody dies, Tracey. Someone's carrying a bullet for you right now, doesn't even know it. The trick is to die of old age before it finds you.

Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

brillig

BEARS!

Ursines? Or large, hairy men?

One needs to know these things of a woman who wrote smut involving Henry Kissenger.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Bears = My Panic Level.

Because apparently, taking polls about Yuletide is one of the ways in which I've avoided writing my Yuletide story.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Of course I know not of this Nikita Writer of whom you speak.

Oh, she's made of awesome. She's like some kind of savant of badfic, bless her, and from time to time Dana will kindly provide us with excerpts from her latest opus of crack.

Did love the antifanfic game.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I am approaching panic mode on Yuletide. Serious panic mode. The story wants to be very long, and I'm far enough into the long that I'm not sure I can pare it back down to something short.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I, like Dana, have a draft.

It remains to be seen how it reads in the light of day.

If it doesn't totally suck, I'll be back with pompoms.

I've been working on a song about the difference between analogy and metaphor.

Oh, and at least this year, no one is having sex with a car.

You say that like there's something wrong with having sex with a car.

... No, I'm not done with my story yet either.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Not that I have energy to take part, but what is this yuletide challenge?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

So, I was looking at the Yuletide uploading FAQ, and it said not to use all caps to denote shouting. "Do not use upper case letters to show emphasis like shouting or screaming."

Um, that might be a problem for me. Should I just change regular sentence caps and use [em] or [b] tags? I don't wanna, but if that's what I need to do ...

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I used all-caps in one instance, because it provided the visual emphasis I wanted. In general, though, I think they'd prefer itals for emphasis and bolding for things like section breaks/heads. Closer conformity with the general fanfic publishing style, you know?

(In the hands of 1200 fans, all-caps could be so dreadfully abused it wouldn't even be funny. Except, I mean, it would be lolarious.)

So, unless your story really needs it, I'd advise against heavy use of all-caps.
