I was chatting with some people about SGA and I almost went into my rant against smushed names when they started refering to pairings that way. McShep, McBeck. Please, McStop.
Mostly I randomly read stories off Wraithbait. Some were okay, although I want to know what the deal is with the characters being centaurs or werewolves. Not that I read the stories because they have no appeal to me.
I did read a nice little story (I forgot the name and the author), it was a threesome McKay/Sheppard/Beckett. The basic premise was: it's been awhile since they had contact with Earth, long enough for people to start pairing off (including same sex). Beckett gets this ancient device stuck to him and can't take it off, they find a ZPM and can go home. Except Beckett (Who will die because of the device), then McKay and Sheppard stay...they get involved, month later people come back. They live happily ever after.
However, there's no mention about the military's view on same sex relationships and how this might effect all the personnel. It's not mentioned at all and none of the three seemed to even think about what the implications would be about their relationship.
Especially since it was mentioned that McKay and Sheppard have a tendancy to make out in the hallways.
"Shadow of His Wings" kicks ass! Whoever recommended it, thank you for causing me to annoy my husband because I stared at the screen all day yesterday and still didn't get it finished. Yay for thumbdrives, because I intend to have the rest of it open in a window here at work because I Must Know!
God, I hope the author finishes this.
As Michael saw it, it was as if Nikita was being stoical and complaisant, like if the fire within her had been dowsed and he hated this Nikita. This was a Nikita reminiscent of the little girl her mother abused and Michael wanted that Nikita gone. And when he was spending time out of mind, he felt she was basically… annoying.
Oh, Michael. We always find her annoying.
At this moment Michael was aware of the little time he had to spend as Nikita’s loving-husband, cognizant that his dementia was about to take center stage again. He needed to make her understand his feelings in a clear concise fashion, fearful that the other Michael, the oblivious one, would kick her to the curve after taking advantage of her.
Wanna bet that "clear concise fashion" is going to involve athletic sex?
He held both her wrists in a vice grip
An oldie-but-goodie.
This man before her was not the funny Michael, the nice Michael or even the real Michael; instead a strange Michael – except for his perfect naked body, stood before her.
Well, yeah, except for that.
When the nurse approached the heart lung machines, Nikita realized that Michael was being kept alive by the use of artificial means and she quietly wept at the realization.
Her thoughts went to the last time they spoke and she thought, "You knew this didn't you, you knew you were going to die... I won't have it Michael, get off your ass you insensitive boob - I am with child!"
Live, damn you! LIIIIIIVE!
How many Michaels and Nikitas are there in this story?
Oh those coma patients, so insensitive.
Hey, it worked for John Crichton. "Come back to life, or I'll let your baby roll off your bier and onto the floor and go PLOP like an overripe [Dana: hide your eyes] tomato!"
"Kick her to the curve"? Ow.
"Vice grip" is my favorite. Just begging for an SVU crossover, know what I'm saying?
The only novel length fic I know is "Adena 1950" but it is Homicide/ James Ellroy and thus, not everyone's flavor. It kicks ass, though, in a fucking tragic sort of way.
My Wire/Homicide will be novel length if I'm irresponsible enough to finish it.(Not that I'm reccing myself as that will only be interesting to the Simonverse obsessed, like myself.)
"We few, we gloomy few,
we band of bunkies..."
ETA: I should have said the only *other* novel length fic I know, because I read Fay's and "Lust over Pendle" and, um, something else from another post on this topic. Sorry. Duh.

I keep hearing about this one. I need to finish up Homicide so I can start reading fic.
