I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Not at all tacky. It's done, get it off your plate.

So what do you do when you have a story due in two days and you realize there's canon in the shooting script that sort of almost contradicts what you have? It never aired, so it was probably cut in the editing room, but still...

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

Hope that no one's reading the shooting script?

Say it's AU if anyone asks?

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Prepare to mount a fierce defense on the grounds that the shooting script isn't canon, and you have just as much right to do X as you do to make John and Rodney gay HA HA HA.

(Has the advantage of being true!)

And the potential to start a flamewar! *g*

Aside from the irritation factor, I feel in my heart that Jayne Cobb's father is not alive, so I guess we'll go with "ignore the shooting script and hope no one notices".

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

If he is alive, he's a deadbeat and nobody's seen nor heard from him since Jayne was about three. Probably killed in a barfight, though.

The shooting script seems to think he's alive and well and employed and living with Jayne's mother. Maybe that's why they cut those lines from the aired episode.

brillig

I always thought Jayne paradoxically had the most normal upbringing of any of them and the whole family is pretty much "Cobbs first and the devil take the hindmost." The kind of close-knit, loving family that robs banks together or something.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

And I was hoping that Jayne was a replicant with implanted memories of family and home.
