Mal: Well, you were right about this being a bad idea. Zoe: Thanks for sayin', sir.

'Serenity'

Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So I'm popping my head in here briefly.

I was trying to find a link to an LJ post from 2005. For those of you who are Harry Potter fans, I think this is that classic post linked all over the internet where garlandgraves argued pretty persuasively that Snape is a good guy?

Well, I had to go to the wayback machine to find the post because garlandgraves' account was deleted. So I found the person's new acct, but in trying to find out what occurred, I of course learned that LJ went on a deletion spree and I came here and read the last 100 posts to see what you all had to say about it.

Two things:

1) So, am I to conclude that all of garlandgraves' wonderful fic and that account with the marvelous HP posts (and other things) is just fucking gone?

2) Is there a way that I can email an LJ user? I have a long dormant lj account, so I can friend people, but I can't figure out how to email people. I just want to shoot garlandgraves an email about how much I appreciated her fanfic and HP posts and leave it at that.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

1) No email on the profile page? Some people do hide their emails entirely, and I'm not sure what you do in that case.

2) Could the stories be archived elsewhere? I know there are a lot of HP archives out there, and when people bahleet themselves they don't always go systematically through and ask to be removed from every archive.

3) I bet there's a group on LJ called HP_storyfinders, or similar. You can go into that community and ask after specific stories by that person; it's possible he/she set up a website someplace else.

4) If it was kerfuffly enough, it might have been at least partially chronicled on fandom_wank (if nuclear eapons were involved) or fandom_lounge (more of a mellow song stylings locale), over on journalfen.net.

"Night Giving Off Flames"

Yes, that was the other one I'd had in my head. I don't remember the MD1016 one you're describing, although I do recall the name.

Nutty,

okay these are good tips. Thanks for this.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

If garlandgraves is a paid user, garlandgraves@livejournal.com should work.

If you can't find what you're looking for, let me know, and I can pull together a quick list of HP archives.

Some very entertaining Heroes crackfic in Bridget Jones' Diary format.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Okay, you know what bites?

Finally deciding the story you want to remix, and the concept you want to use, going back to look at the original story one more time--and realizing that not only has this story already been remixed, but that the remix used the exact same concept you had picked.

Crap.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

But is yours the same story? If not, couldn't you do it anyway?

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

That's...

Um, it was a very good idea?

Yeah, I am unhelpful here.

It seems pointless, Beverly. It's been done. And I haven't written it yet, so now I don't want to.

Well, I do get that, if it's not the story that's burning its way out your finger-ends. I only meant "write it anyway" if it was.

I'm sorry, though.
