I think right now the only thing uniting most of fandom is a huge hate on for FanLib.
I have very vague memories of when I was young. The earliest is kind of an impression of blocks and carpet.
Another early memory wanting to stay inside and watch tv when my brother and I were supposed to go outside. I'm pretty sure the show was Emergency!
I just backed up my LJ, not out of any real fear of deletion, but because it never hurts. I used LJ Archive, which was very easy.
I'm finding it enormously difficult to care much about FanLib, and it's making me feel kind of guilty.
You're not obligated to care.
I suspect FanLib will subside into an archive that newcomers to fandom use, and nobody else pays much attention to. Periodically they'll try some contest or something to get people to post, and we'll mock them and move on.
suela is wise
Me, I'm a bit more concerned by the deletions that are happening over on LJ.
Are people deleting their stories to avoid fanlib? Because they've joined fanlib? Or is lj going nuts and deleting stories all by itself?
Fanlib and the LJ deletion craxxy are two different kerfuffles. The latter is related to vigilante crazies and paranoia; the former is still in the point-and-laugh (or totally ignore) phase.
Sadly, f_w is down, or else I would have pithy comedy to quote about both.
