Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Aw, thanks, Lee! And I'm sorry to hear about the migraine--no fun, that. I hope you feel better.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Oh Lee, I feel like I ought to post in smallfont, in a visual whisper. I'm sorry for your migraine.

Anne's fic is really good. And the Mary fic she linked to gave me that kick in the canon that some fics do.

Oops, wrong thread.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Thanks! It's faded now, enough that I will be in that other thread soon, and then I can go read all the fic.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Well, between giggling at the drug thing and nodding madly at the PMM thing (because I too was thinking 'Dude, you wrote Kissinger porn. SPN wrongness is too vanilla for you') I think I've made a fabulous fool of myself over the past five minutes.

I feel that this is a place where you might appreciate my boggliness at the following fragment of a story that one of the girls in my Journalism club just wrote. I swear to God I had nothing to do with it. Nothing. She just said 'I think I'll write a story' and I said 'Cool, but we've only got a couple of minutes before hometime, so you likely won't have time to get very far' and she produced the following:

Isabella sat by her window and looked out at the horrible scene, Mrs. Lefenry had taken out her daughter and had whipped her a few times, the ceremony wasn't for another hour, but at this rate no one else in the entire village would make it. The snow had slowed , but no one wanted to go out in this weather

...I just about fell off my chair. Bless her. She's 11, and she seems to be penning H/C for the school magazine. I love this kid.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Bwahaha! That's darling.

And as I recall from my and my friends' reading habits, yes, that's about the age for it.

and nodding madly at the PMM thing (because I too was thinking 'Dude, you wrote Kissinger porn. SPN wrongness is too vanilla for you')

IT HAS BROKEN MY PORN MUSCLE.

I... I can't even do VANILLA SPN wrong.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Big Pink has a new story up, and it's making me crazy.

I love the way she writes, and her characters are usually pretty much spot-on. But she has a hate-on for John, and she's trowelling it on thick this time, now with non-canonical heavy drinking. I love her work, but her John-bashing is making me want to just walk away.

ETA: to her credit, she does warn that there's little Sam and dark John.

I think I may have walked away already. I started reading Chapter 1, and haven't finished it, because I couldn't stand her John by the time I got to page 4.

See, I don't think she hates John. I think she's highly critical of him, but I don't think she hates him, and I think she's trying for a sympathetic view of a John who's in a very dark place (and, interestingly, one of the first comments on chapter two was something like, "Stop making me like John! Argh!"), but has a different/harsher reading of John than some of us do.

Well, in one of her fics he was not as harsh as he's seemed in the rest of them. I can't recall now which one, but I was surprised she portrayed him as tough, but caring and as fair as he could be, under the circumstances. I haven't given up on this one, but it is a little tooth-grindy, for me, on John's behalf.
