Emily, you're going to be in Paris? I was planning to go to Paris then!
Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?
This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.
Be careful not to get mysterious Kryptonian tattoos from long-dead witches!
(...why yes, I am just working my way through the Smallville back catalogue...)
That episode was the closest thing to sexy KK had been the entire series run.
I have one spot left on my yuletide request list, and three fandoms vying for that spot. What criteria should I use to narrow it down?
Um. Hmm. 1) Fandom with the fewest requests wins, in order to better your chances of getting any story in that fandom, or 2) Fandom with the most volunteers to write it wins, as it's more likely to be written.
Or option c) choose which fandom makes you ache the most for a good story.
I ended up volunteering for more fandoms than I probably should have.
I went with d) Fandom in which I'm not actually requesting a pairing, under the theory that I should not be so predictable. And I really want to read the story I requested.
I cleared out most of my "Oh, god, could I actually write this?" fandoms, but there are still a few that would induce panic. If there's no panic, it's not yuletide.

I decided not to go with a few stand-by fandoms, operating under the theory that I'd pretty much shot my fictional wad on them. Added a bunch of new fandoms that I've acquired in the last year, along with a handful of fandoms that may kick my ass if I get assigned them, but I hope in a good way.
And I think the only year I didn't panic at Yuletide was the first year. I didn't know what I was in for, and that's probably how I ended up writing 3 stories.
Ha. The first year was the year I wrote Michael/Operations and uploaded it from my father-in-law's computer.
I remember the first year of Yuletide fondly--especially hours and hours of ignoring my family during Christmas and reading all the stories. That was special.

That was the year I had the flu and got spanked for writing Sports Night. That's an experience I don't care to repeat.
Edited to add: although obviously it hasn't stopped me from signing up again year after year.
