This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

What is even happening?

Hee. Fay and amy, my last post was an x-post with yours. I love both your summaries. You two have paid more attention to the story than I have. I may have to read more of it.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Becky Sharpe taking on fandom

I'm marrying this analogy.

Did anyone here ever read the Victoria Bitters saga from the LotR fandom?

Oh, ha. I met Victoria Bitter at a con once, before she pulled all this. At the time, I remember thinking, "She's a bit off, isn't she?"

Little did I know.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I had to reread the high points of the Victoria Bitter thing. I have to say, between channelling the imaginary spirits of imaginary hobbits, growing magical penises, and appearing on an actual milk carton, she's still got msscribe beat.

OH MY GOD. I just read this comment in the bad_penny saga:

Tripzy, a Draco/Hermione 'shipper, decides to send JKR a letter explaining how she got it all wrong.

Is it wrong that I want to buy tons of Harlan Ellison anthologies and pimp them to Tripzy?

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

t awed

....

....

....no, I got nuthin'. But I'm clearly going to have to read this saga. Wow.

I think you win the understatement of Ever award, shrift.

Okay, that's what I thought, too. The MsScribe one seems more mean, or something. The whole MsS thing is so deliberate.

For batshit insanity, literally incredible fandom events, 'shipper wars, embarrassing the fandom with its VIPs and actual bilking of money, I think the VB thing really can't be topped, unless the exact same events play out that way again, and end in mpreg.

In my defense, at the time she'd only made a brazillion bad Lord of the Rings vids about hobbits with terrible bootleg source, wandered about the convention in her pjs, and rambled nonsensically with a bad Scottish accent.

If she'd grown a magical penis while I was standing next to her in the hallway, I would have hopped on Bill the Pony and done a Paul Revere around the convention. "The Batshit Crazies are coming! The Batshit Crazies are coming! Don't give them any money! If you do, we'll never get rid of them!"

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah. The penis thing. It still hurts my head to think of that too hard.

she was a brilliant livejournaller

Yes! Totally.
