I lie to make myself look good all the time. I'm lying right now, AIFG!!
Speaking of irritating reductionism in gender studies, there's another editorial in the Times today (this time by cranky rightwinger John Tierney) entitled "What Women Want." When will people learn that having an avowed male entitle an article "What Women Want" is a guarantee that a cadre of women will line up to kick him in the pants??
Men. So thoughtless.
He found that, when interviewed by a guy in a white coat, men admitted to lying to make themeselves look better while women said that they lied only to make the stranger feel good. What the subjects really did is anyone's guess.
Is that how the conclusion was reached? I assumed he had the subjects point out their lies on the videotape, noted what they were, and tallied up the results. But I'm not familiar with the study other than what's mentioned in the article.
It's stunning how the authors never considered that the subjects might be even more likely to lie to them than they were to lie to the strangers.
No, they did. It's mentioned in the article.
Dude. She's being ironic.
smackdown of gross generalizations!!!!!
What better response to irony than a good eyeroll? (Not like an eggroll.)
You know, whoever invented the @ = eyeroll idea deserves wild applause. Was it Jesse?
