We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

When my mom would dry the sheets on the line in the backyard, we had a great place to hide/sit and chat.

Oh, and count me in with the "poor relation" crowd--I was at a funeral last weekend and my brother was talking about the house he and my SIL were thinking about buying in Florida. Not to move to, just to have for vacations, etc. (and probably share with family members, as well, or so I hope!). Considering I can't even afford to buy a 1BR condo to live in, the green devil of jealousy was definitely making biting comments in my brain. And it isn't like they're making huge amounts of money (he's a parole officer, and she's a teacher). But, she is great with money management, I'll admit.

What is even happening?

You can borrow our backyard, Jesse. I don't have a Gudanov, but there is a Lori! You should come visit.
And Lori could build you a functional spaceship, or at the very least, a robotic arm.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

But, she is great with money management, I'll admit.

Yeah, that's a huge thing wrt "apparent" wealth. I have friends who bought a house a few years ago, and I know they don't make a lot of money but she is NUTS with budgeting. Her sister makes much more, but spends it on clothes and stuff.

Edit: Not to even mention the people living beyond their means who look loaded, but are actually living on debt.

Our wings are not tired.

Imma thinking Kat and Lori's children could have a mighty fine spaceship in the backyard.

But, she is great with money management, I'll admit.

That is my downfall. My mother and sister are so good at that stuff, the rest of us not so hot.

I'm watching House...

Sela Ward is still fab. She needs to be on my TV more.

Jen, I can't stand her. But, Dr. House? So hot.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Imma thinking Kat and Lori's children could have a mighty fine spaceship in the backyard.

It would be decorated inside with pink curtains (gingham with embrodiered flamingos, natch) and lots and lots of books!

how are you, Laura? I feel like I rarely see your font cause I'm always skipping and skimming.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I'm with Jen on Sela Ward. I love her. Absolutely love her.

a spaceship in the backyard

I installed the overhead control panel with it's 24 toggle switches tonight, despite not having much time to work on it. Now that it has a rear door, but is minus engine pods and the nose the spaceship has become a makeshift castle. I suspect the toy swords have something to do with that. I hope to get out with a jig saw soon and cut the portals and the top hatch.

Unfortunately working on this project has started me thinking how I could make a better spaceship (using a 12 foot wooden beam as a spine to suspend a cockpit from the main body connected with a tunnel made of 2x6s). Alas, there really isn't anyplace in the yard where I could put such a big thing though and the cost of the wood would be pretty scary.

I'll leave the making of functional spaceships to Lori.
