Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

different search engines do things differently

Who knew?

Aside from all the brilliant academic and technologically adept folks on b.org, um, all us librarians!!

Every now and then, I get the urge to act superior. I am usually pretty quickly reminded how not, but honestly, it's fun for a few minutes there.

Sniff. Sniff.

I'm assuming someone posted it in the 200 messages above I skipped?

What is even happening?

I think expensive is associated with high-class. Not equated.
And some of this is location and culture (subculture) dependent, I think. Some of the rattiest looking Yankees (in the New England sense, particularly Mainers) you'll ever see, are filthy rich, and live a spartan life.

With groups of women, I can feel like I missed something key when learning to socialise. Which I probably did, being raised in a mostly female family and going to all girls schools from age 11.

I read this as:

Sniff. Sniff. I'm assuming someone posted in the 200 messages above I skipped?

I got all excited, as this is how I feel much of the time as I try to keep up with just a few threads, and fail miserably.

Sigh...

If I only had a brain...

This just in: different search engines do things differently:

There's more than one search engine?

:: Google suffocates ::
:: weeps ::

The gauntlet of wedding and baby showers I'm running this year has only reinforced my feeling that, yes, my acculturation is wildly incomplete.

I've been lucky in that most of those things either fall into family, college friends, or krav circles -- all a bunch of gender freaks in their own way.

And I mean the term freak very gently.
