If I killed the construction guy working across from my cube who won't stop doing his Donald Duck impression, you'd all say I was with you, right?

A Norwegian man was killed after jumping from the Eiffel Tower when a parachute he was wearing got stuck on an upper deck of the monument, officials said Tuesday.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the man planned to film his jump as part of publicity for a Norwegian clothing brand, police said.

Does alibi catch if it's an ocean away?

"No, officer, it couldn't have been me. You see, I was in Israel at the time. Yes, with Nilly."
"You were with Nilly? OK, you can go. Sorry to waste your time."
Psst, Jessica, is your hair still blue? Because, how could I know such a specific detail about a stranger on the internet? Of course, if I know your hair-color, it means you were with me. And with msbelle.
It's air-tight! (Still blue, yep.)

(The 18th Amendment ushered in the era of Prohibition and, some social historians have said, the bootleggers and speak-easies that accompanied it.)
Some? I always thought it was a pretty clear-cut case of cause and effect -- alcohol becomes illegal, a black market emerges. Is there really a controversy here, or is the Times just covering their asses?
