What a good day!

Happy birthday, Megan!

Happy anniversary, JZ & Hec!

Happy cake-iversary, Kat and Lori!

Welcome, Seth!!! Congrats to Jim and Penny!

And yay to sara for babysteps!

At last count, far flung was Madagascar.

I think a friend of mine is going to spend the summer in Madagascar. Jealous.

and found to my surprise that a nice independent bookstore has opened up next to it!

Oh yeah, that store's great. The people who own it used to have some other store someplace.

AND I had brunch and traipsing about with Susan O. today! YAY!

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Sings the "Happy Anniversary" song to the Zmayhems.

Welcomes baby Seth into the world.

Wishes ginormous kink in neck would go away.

Wonders if appetite and motivation have fled to South America.

That is all.

Rio, our friend made the cake for us and it was delicious. Now, when I have cake needs (and, cmon, I ALWAYS have cake needs... esp. when nice friends invite us over, we bring cake) I tend to go to Porto's which is a local cuban bakery. My favorite cakes so far? Triple chocolate mousse cake and the fruit tart. I'd like to try the tres leches with fresh fruit on top. maybe soon.

Our other favorite is a place called Pastries by Nancy. Their cakes are fantastic, and gorgeous, but much more expensive than Portos. And totally a different kind of cake.

I think Robin has had cake from both places with us, yes? fnord!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Birthday Megan!

Happy Anniversary JZ and Hec!

We went to the Nationals-Cubs game last night. Ended up being more interesting than I anticipated, due to the weather. We met with the rest of our group at G's cousin's house to walk over to the stadium.(Its about 9 blocks) That's when the first set of thunderstorms hit, resulting in us getting soaking wet. It had stopped raining by the time we got to the stadium, so we went in. The game was delayed, so I ended up buying a hooded sweatshirt to put on in place of my wet t-shirt. Unfortunately, I was stuck with soggy pants(both the American and the British definition of the word. ew) as wet denim is no one's friend. Another major thunderstorm hit. Finally the game started, at 9:45 pm. It ended close to 1 am. I'm a bit tired, as you may guess...

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Kat--yes, indeed, I've had cake from both places supplied by you and it was DELICOUS!!!!!!!! I am a lucky lucky gal.
