Spike's Bitches 23: We've mastered the power of positive giving up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I have a plot bunny involving a werewolf. Unfortunately, the only werewolf stories I'm familiar with are the Jossverse version and a YA novel I read about 5 years ago about a teen werewolf girl coming to terms with her place in the world. I think in her version you had to be born werewolf, not bitten.

So. I figure I need to learn the usual werewolf myth so I can figure out how to play with it for purposes of my embryonic plot. So what books/movies/etc. would y'all recommend as archetypal werewolf stories?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm not surehow much archetypal werewolf lore exists - there are a lot of different folk traditions (that I don't really know, I just know there are various legends from different places) and I don't know how much consistency there is in fiction or movies. I've gotten the impression that most authors have made up their own lore and not worried about it matching anyone else's.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I can't fly way above everything, but I can take a running jump and will myself to not come down. So I sorta float along about two or three feet above the ground.

I have these dreams a lot. Usually it happens when I'm running down stairs in my dreams. It's so cool. I love being able to do it.

My worst nightmares involve not being able to move...just being stuck in mud, or being weighed down, and not able to move, and there's something pursuing me. I haven't had one of these in months, but I had them about once a week during the worst of my depression.

The scariest dream I ever had was about an evil baby and warehouse chases. It sounds utterly banal but it was terrifying. I woke up shuddering and not able to move for fear. Then I slept with the light on...the only time in my life I have ever done that.

I had a Spike/James Marsters sex dream once (they kept mixing up) and it was a lot of fun. No Buffista sex dreams that I recall.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I once had a sex dream about Xander, but he was singing "Rest In Peace" to me in Spike's voice.

I had a David Boreanaz sex dream not long ago. It seemed strange once I woke up, b/c he was DB and not Angel, but I was expecting him to turn evil.

(eta: I am having all kinds of trouble capitalizing my "I"s today. Self-esteem issues much?)

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I wear a NightGuard (yuck) and I constantly have dreams about my mouth being full of gum or some gum-like substance that I pull out and pull out but can't get all the way out of my mouth. Hate those.

Yeah, I wear one, too, and it fits pretty tightly. Last night I was agitated to the point where I woke up without it. Still can't figure out how that happened. I had an old one that came out really easily and I could pry it off with my tongue. One morning I found it clear across the room.

Last night's dream was weird- I think I had two and the same jerky version of my ex popped up in both of them. I don't remember much about the first one, but in the second, I went back to my old college, with all of my friends from home, and my ex went too, and of course it wasn't anything like my college, and we lived in adjacent dorm rooms that had their own hot tubs but shared the same pool.

ETA: Oh yeah, in high school I dreamt I lost it to Xander in front of a fire with Dave Matthews playing. Ha!

Our wings are not tired.

My most frequent recurring dreams are social dreams in party or gathering settings with rich combinations of people living and dead, friends, family, famous people, and completely unknown strangers. When I discussed these entertaining dreams to a friend of mine that we’ll just call Ms. Metaphysical she explained sincerely and patiently that quite often your spirit goes off to play with other spirits while you sleep. She insists that my spirit was really enjoying an event with all these other spirits while we slept. It suits me to accept this as a possibility. Of course, this means that certain spirits of real life friends of mine have been messing with my spirit while we innocently dozed.
