Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

Spike's Bitches 23: We've mastered the power of positive giving up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I can't wait to see what the ground looks like as you get further away from it. (I know the novelty will probably wear off, but whateva.)

Also, I'm hoping I don't get sick. I haven't gotten motion sickness since I was a little kid, but my mom says that if I got carsick then, I will get airsick now. I don't want to!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

my mom says that if I got carsick then, I will get airsick now

There's no direct link. My sister was terribly horribly carsick as a kid, and has never had a problem flying, even when she was wee.

Oh, good. I don't want to spend the time feeling like I'm going to yarf when I plan on having shiny new books to read. (Although sometimes I still have a hard time reading in the car. I'm fine on trains, though.)

Yup. I couldn't get in a car without booting as a kid. I've NEVER gotten airsick. Well, except for on my way to London once, but I'm blaming the salmon on the in-flight meal. Or the 5 Jack & cokes.

Yikes. I can see how that would hurt. Although I'm not against finding myself a drink before the flight. Just to calm the nerves. At noon, it'll probably be hard to come by, though.

Drinks were free on international flights, so I indulged a wee bit.

Airport bars are open then, for sure.

Hmmm. I wonder if Manchester has a bar.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

I could be wrong, but from what I've heard, much of the problem of car- and sea-sickness has to do with the difference in motion between the immediate surroundings and the horizon, which would suggest that airsickness isn't going to be a direct connection.

I'm no good with the sentence making anymore.

Oh. I did get sea-sick on a 7th grade whale watch. I think it's because everyone else was doing it, though.

Boats are a whole other ball of wax.

I'm chalking this weekend up as wasted. We didn't get a single thing done around the house that needed done. Yard work--the snow took care of that. Staining the trim--the low temperature took care of that. I *could* have cleaned out the computer room in preparation for baby-proofing and thrown out some of the shit that is accumulating in the basement but I didn't.

If anyone sees my motivation, please tell it to get its ass back home.
