Our landlord wants to sell us the house.
We haven't established any details at all--not even a ballpark figure of a price or anything--but he wants to sell us the house.
Which means there's a good chance we get to keep living here, in the city limits, convenient to pretty much everything. With the neighbors we really like. Did I mention we're in the city limits? With nice neighbors? And we have a backyard.
Granted, this will only work financially if he gives us a substantial discount on market value. But we think he might, since we're saving him a lot of hassle. This is a serious fixer-upper on many levels, and we're willing to buy as-is. That should count for something.
So I guess the next step is to figure out what we can pull out of all the 401(k)s and the Bank of Mom and Dad, and then talk to a bank. When we know what we can do, we'll make an offer.
DH is already on the phone with his mom. Hopefully she'll remember she helped BIL and SIL with their down payment....
Woo hoo! Susan, that's wonderful news!
Congrats on the home-owning, Nora and Susan!
Well, congratulations are probably a little premature. For now, we need housema, that he'll actually think the amount of money we end up willing and able to offer him is a good deal!
When DH broached the subject of money with his mother, she said, "The house next door to me is for sale."
Uh....no.
Susan, good news on the house, not good news on the m-i-l. House~ma, definitely.
booyah! on the house news, susan .
strawberries on oreos - really good . However blackberries or rasberries might even be better....
Congratulations, Nora! Very exciting. And I hope it works out for you too, Susan.
Susan, that's great. I know you've wanted that.
Mom and I have worked for two solid days packing (hence the need to skip and skim), and we're almost done. Gronk.
Woo hoo, Anne! I can imagine how very much you mean that gronk.
I can imagine how very much you mean that gronk.
I'm looking forward to this coming Monday. I'll have nothing to do except haul out the trash, do some cleaning, and go to a friend's house for dinner. Other than that, I plan to be a lazy slug.
Oh dear God I should not be writing this.
Sadly, I shall never have the opportunity to hit on as many people in one night as I did tonight post-college. Considering I am now in my room without a bed-mate, that is sad.
Why am I still responding?
God. Gin. Talk about the future of education.
