We have far, far too much stuff over too many stairs to do anything but call a professional.
Although you probably wouldn't need help for this, you should plan on moving you're smaller but more valuable electronics, and any breakables that are valuable, on your own. It will save you much worry and aggravation.
Have you selected a mover yet? Some friends had really good luck with a company whose name I'm memfaulting on, but I can find out if you are still shopping.
I actually have a friend who runs his own moving company- we've used him before, as have many of my friends and there's never been a problem that we've heard of. He can get furniture through every sort of space.
The only thing with him, is, he'll use up an hour of time chatting. I don't care though. He gets it done, and he's good. And all he has is a truck and his reputation.
But hopefully we'll close about a week before the move and we can start running stuff up ourselves.
{{Maria}} I was just thinking about you and you tax difficulties this morning. much taxma to you.
{{vw}} Unspecified ~ma as requested.
Yay! Sean's car is running!
Jobma for Kristin.
Woo-hoo for no ringworm!
TICKYBOX!
ANyone know what "CAH" means in real estate listings?
This is what I keep telling myself. Basically, my biggest fear is that we'll just space on something stupid (like, duh, covering the deposit check in our checking account) because we didn't think of it or think to ask. It is comforting to know that we've assembled Team McWarin with the agent and the lawyer and hopefully they will point out any stupid oversights of ours.
At some point, you'll probably get some check lists. It's been long enough I forget the chronology. You probably already have something from your bank. Our mortgage broker was practically our therapist during our sale and purchase, and very helpful. What I found stressful is how last minute everyone (who wasn't me) let everything be. The day before the closings (we closed on our sale first, and then our purchase right after) there were still things (can't remember what--legal stuff) they didn't have ready. It made me sick.
You're very smart to hire a mover, Nora. It's worth the money, as long as they're half decent, particularly when there are stairs involved. And your current place is pretty big. You two have a lot of stuff.
But hopefully we'll close about a week before the move and we can start running stuff up ourselves.
Good for you. That's ideal. Unfortunately, because we were closing both transactions on the same day, we couldn't do that. And when we bought the first house, we ended up renting for an extra month, just so we wouldn't be stuck in the MUST MOVE NOW hell.
Okay, tax-ma for MFNLaw. (.*)-ma for vw. Yoo-hoo for Sean's car. Job-ma for Kristen. Cat-ma for Windsparrow.
-t, do you have any context handy for it? It might trigger something.
It's in the list of amenities for a rental
Two-story, brick townhouse with three bedrooms and 2.5 baths, fenced yard, outside storage, driveway, dishwasher, disposal, refrigerator, full size washer/dryer hookups, CAH.
I think two days is as long as we've ever had for a move. The last time we used a storage unit to help out. We've always just rented a truck for moving, but that's not necessarily smart.
-t, I think CAH might mean "central air and heat."
