ION, I think Annabel has learned to recognize Sean Bean from my Sharpe desktop photo on the laptop. I was just checking my LJ friendslist, and there was a totally different photo, still Sharpe but a very different pose, in the bean_daily community. I hear a little voice over my shoulder say "Igyop!", which, granted, doesn't sound like anything in particular. She's not so much with the speaking of actual English yet. I looked, and she was pointing at the picture with this bright-eyed knowing look. I scrolled away and came back, at which point she pointed and said "Igyop!" again.
I'm either giving my daughter great taste young or completely warping her innocent mind.
And a thank yee to Teppy for the .wmv advice. Wheeeeeeee!
Glad I could help, my Mac-using compatriot!

Possibly both. And YAY Annabel for pattern recognition.
Although she apperently still needs to learn the difference between Sean Bean and Iggy Pop.

Wait! There was Mac-based .wmv advice and I missed it?
please forgive the skimming
Where? Wha? Can I have it?
Beej, it was just a How Do I Play .wmv Files On My Mac??? question, and the easiest answer I know of is to just download Windows Media Player for Mac. Easy-peasy.
If you already knew that and had been hoping for a neato cool-o trick, I'm sorry to disappoint, BUT! I can juggle, which is almost as cool of a trick!

I've long since thought she's good at the pattern recognition--e.g. after we spent Christmas in a house with cats, for awhile there she'd point excitedly at photos of cats in her books, even though they had completely different coloring and markings, not to mention being all two-dimensional. I'm not absolutely sure she was recognizing the SB photo as being the same guy in the different pose on the other computer--she gets happy about images in general--but I kinda think she does, and that my daughter is pretty, er, sharp.

High, high on my list of cool beans.
