To commemorate a past event, you kill and eat an animal. It's a ritual sacrifice, with pie.

Spike's Bitches 23: We've mastered the power of positive giving up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I have been trying to share this cartoon with you for days:

Hee. Excellent. (Not terns, admittedly, I'd guess guillemots. And the penguins look like auks to me. 'Course, 'penguin' was first applied to auks, so that's ok.)

Always Anti-fascist!

So I signed up for this net thing for peace, only I must have counted Eastern Time incorrectly. Which I do all the time, it just doesn't usually have to be so up-to-the-minute Nothing like starting off your day and feeling late already. D'oh. I wish I had learned better how to shake things off as a kid. I am still learning how now and stakes are higher. I was a sensitive kid, a, and get over it is kind of not the message of Special Class, which was kind of a womb with a view,b.

Now tagless for your comfort.

That Christopher will rule the world. Mark my words.

Surgery-ma for Emmett and lots of calm-ma for all the adults in his life.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

psst I would like to hear more about the brain implants.

I'll just beam what I have over to you on my mind-phone.

When I think about Emmett's situation, I can't help but think about my parents and what they went through with my 13 surgeries and many hospitalizations. They always seemed to me to think it was just the most natural thing. I never got any feelings of nervousness from them.

I had a very "What are you all freaking out about? It's just a hospital." attitude towards the whole thing.

I do think that being 8 years old and drugged to the eyeballs and still able to point out the the doctor that he was about to pull out the wrong tube (and being right, and probably saving my life in the process) may have warped my views on authority.

I can't even.

Gronklies!

So my folks got in last night sans incident, well, a little of the plane sitting on the tarmac for 45 minutes after arrival, due to insufficient ground crew (how the hell does that happen?), but no other incident.

They both have colds. Oh joy. Today is their running around day, getting ready for the next stage of their trip.

Now to catch up on the innernets.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Gronk.

I think my hosts are moving quietly around their bedroom, trying not to wake me up, but I have been up and sitting in their living room for half an hour.

brillig

Neat, a variant on the "I'm a Nigerian needing your help with a financial thing" email just landed in my inbox. This one says he's from Benin. Funny how that return address has a Czechoslovakian extension on it.

Isn't there an address we can forward these things to?
